Hi people, I my client wants to host his owm Joomla! website on his Server running on Windows server2003. Ive never had to set up a Joomla! site on windows platform before and im wondering if there is anyone out there who would offer me some guidance or even propose somewhere i could get tutorials or guides. Thanks in advance guys. -- Muite Nicholas G P.O.Box 215, 00902 Kikuyu mobile:0715-693834 office:+254-20-2727043 email:nmuite@googlemail.com,

Nicholas Assuming you already have a joomla site customised for your client and that you don't have PHP/MySQL installed on your server and that you don't want to use IIS - Download XAMPP exe, install, this should install for you Apache,MySQL,PHP,Filezilla - Start the services for Apache,MySQL - Copy your Joomla site to htdocs(htdocs should be in the XAMPP folder, maybe C:\Xampp\htdocs) - On your browser,go to localhost/phpmyadmin and create your website DB,import your SQL, if its a fresh joomla install, then just create the DB. - Open your joomla website: localhost/yoursite 2009/10/29 muite nicholas <nmuite@googlemail.com>

If u follow the XAMPP route, be aware that a default installation of XAMPP is totally insecure. I've heard good things about IIS7 on this list. On 10/29/09, Jared Koyier <jaredkoyier@gmail.com> wrote:

yeah, and of course in a production environment, its just good to install separate, learn tinkering with the confic.inc.php files, just in case you need something thats not in the package sometime later. kama ioncube . :-) On Sat, Oct 31, 2009 at 10:26 AM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

Using IIS has become even easier if you follow this route 1) Ensure IIS is running 2) Download and install Microsoft Web Platform Installer here http://www.microsoft.com/web/Downloads/platform.aspx 3) Run the Web Platform installer and look for the section Web Platform Extensions. You will find PHP. Select that. Here comes the beautiful part -- the web platform installer will download, install and configure PHP on IIS. 4) Once php is up and running you can now install and configure joomla as usual On Sat, Oct 31, 2009 at 12:22 PM, [ Brainiac ] <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:

time for Bill gates to consider something like apt-get install..... seriously, they raided the opensource world before, they would really do themselves good and probably lose less clients to nix.
