Good people I want to upgrade our PABX system and I need the best in the market considering the following; 1. What type of PABX ( the brand and model) they have, how many extensions it services, what maintenance it needs and how long they have had it 2. What are the pros and cons of it 3. What they paid for it in rough terms, and what they may be paying for it in maintenance terms monthly. 4. Whether they have considered a wireless PABX – (one that connects t extensions without wires but by wireless connection) 5. Whether it is upgradeable 6. Whether there is a way it can serve more than one office in different locations in Nairobi e.g. CBA westlands and CBA town. 7. How they find their service provider who cleans/maintains it if they have one. Anybody with an idea/deals/supply’s the PABX system contacts me. -- Regards, Robert.

Hi Robert, What if u started by giving the specs of what you have and what you wish to have. Could be you have the best in the market. ;-) Get someone to talk to you about Asterisk and maybe you'll at least have options. BR Tony

Hi Robert, I would; 1) List down features i need for the PBX (in addition to what you have listed here). 2) Ask for quotes based on the feature sets and price upgrades for modules that support additional features you may require in the future. 3) Compare that against IP-PBX solutions available (off the shelf) 4) Compare that against building one yourself Asteris, SER etc are amongst the most common IP-PBX solutions out there. In the long run if you have a tight budget its easier to go for 3. If you have the technical skill sets in-house you can go for option 4. Regards, Michuki. Robert Kuria wrote:

@Brian, How do you compare an Asterisk based system to an Avaya IP PBX? Just supposing you have experienced the two. How about a Cisco IP PBX? I mean comparison in terms of feature sets, not cost:) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Clothes make the man.
