OT: Flashback to October 2011 - Artificial Intelligence

Friends, I was just sitting in the office waiting for the mama who brings for us fermented porridge. Today she has really delayed the supply of this critical commodity. Anyway, out of the blue I remembered something... Almost 1.5 years ago, several skunks, skunklets and skunklings attended Stanford. The reason for joining this prestigious institution was so as to get first class education on Artificial Intelligence... Some (if not most) of us dropped out...but some managed to complete the course. By show of hands, who managed to complete the course? I would like anyone who completed the course to kindly showcase for us anything that they have built using the knowledge acquired in the course. Don't be shy:-) Timo.

Hi Timothy, I completed the online course, but have not yet had time to apply the knowledge on the project where I need it.. so - maybe in another years time ;-) .. Michael Pedersen On 5/22/13 10:32 AM, Timothy Mutugi wrote:

I'm not sure whether Martin Chiteri took either of the classes (ML & AI). He seems to have something up his sleeve : https://github.com/chiteri/shdnbi2013_machinelearning @Martin, are we looking at yet another famous drop-out? [?][?]

Hi Tony, I am not a Stanford dropout. I am just a particle Physics and Astronomy fan. Interestingly, I never really took Artificial Intelligence seriously until about ten days ago. Also please note that the work is not my solo effort. There were many brave souls involved with the project. The repository has at least six different forks, it is starred by two people as of now. Martin. *P.S:* If can be allowed a little excess, there are two things that are on my radar right now: 1) Swarm Intelligence - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ErEBkj_3PY 2) Genetic code mapping and migration history - http://www.ias.edu/about/publications/ias-letter/articles/2013-spring/geary-... Maybe I can find some people to walk with me(?) CHEERS! On Thu, Jun 13, 2013 at 1:31 PM, Tony Likhanga <tlikhanga@gmail.com> wrote:

@Martin ... you mean you are doing these things for fun? Have you ever had your IQ tested (professionally, i.e. not via those free online IQ tests)... Timo.

I try ..... :-D The truth is that sometimes whatever you do on a daily basis to earn a living can be ``boring to death''.
Have you ever had your IQ tested (professionally, i.e. not via those free online IQ tests)...
I have been seriously thinking about going to take one at the British Council soon. I did an online test some time while I was still in college and it showed (most likely cheated) me that I am actually smarter than Richard P. Feynman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman Feynman is considered to be the Greatest Scientific mind since Albert Einstein yet the only time he took an I.Q test, it was recorded at being 128, just two units shy of being considered a genius. <tangent> Stephen Hawking once said that if you have to measure you I.Q then you are really not smart enough ..... :-D </tangent> The point is, I.Q or any other measures of intelligence are really irrelevant to whatever you do or how well you can learn. *P.S:* The pleasure of finding things out, by Richard P. For anyone else who still has some form of curiosity about the project done in Science hack day 2013, the README file has been updated with details about the Physics in it and ideas about more Hacks possible with it < https://github.com/chiteri/shdnbi2013_machinelearning/blob/master/README.md
The plan is to do a blog post, or a series of them explaining the project's innards. Will also do another one focussed on last year's hack that got featured among the news items published by the C.M.S collaboration<http://cms.web.cern.ch/news/cms-public-data-activity-scoops-prize-nairobi> . Thank you. Martin. On Fri, Jun 14, 2013 at 12:18 PM, Martin Chiteri <martin.chiteri@gmail.com>wrote:
