E1 connection to Panasonic PBX

Hi people, I'm faced with a problem at a client's where I have to connect an E1 to a Panasonic PBX (KX-TA616). I'm searching on google and not finding something that's helping me. Is it possible to connect to this type of PBX? -- Regards, Alex

Alex, to the best of my knowledge this particular PABX model support a max. of 8 analog trunks(FXO) on the PSTN side and 24 ext(FXS) on the user side. I do not think it would support and digital trunk. However, i suggest you call a company called Corrington or Bell Atlantic, they sell most of the PABX locally. I dont have their tel. numbers.

Thanks guys. I did some more googling and found that it's analog (hence the A in the model no.). Guess I'll have to upgrade. On Wed, Oct 7, 2009 at 6:01 PM, cooks likes <sorpotelsanaas@hotmail.com>wrote:

Here's a work around. I keep drumming the table till we realize that we are not stuck with proprietary black boxes.
X PRI >>> Asterisk Server >>> FXO >>> Panasonic >>> Analogue Extensions to existing users >>> FXO >>> Nortel >>> >>> FXO>>> Whichever black box you ..>>>
The only limitation is the number of analogue ports available on the existing PBX which will also determine the number of concurrent calls going forward. In order to add new users you may opt to add SIP Extensions on the Asterisk box as opposed to adding or buying a later model. For me this is not Theory I have successfully implemented it using a Nortel Blackbox and Openworld has done the same. There exists tonnes of documentation, to assist any willing to dip their toes. @Kiania,
This is very well, but do you want to get a whole E1 and do call distribution for 24 analog sets? I think the best option is to get a IP PABX to enable the office exploit all the benefits of digital trunks plus IP telephony. Chao R D

@Dennis. I concur with you however it all depends on when they bought the PBX, you find that if it was recently acquired companies would be reluctant to fork lift the solution for a replacement, as they may have not recouped their investment no mater the immediate short comings. Secondly the largest cost of the IP PBX is the cost of handsets and the training and in most cases end-user resistance can have disastrous results. The desk phone is the most used (misused) business tool and having a different solution will entail retraining. As with most technological issues the fault is political and hardly technological.
