Hi guys, Someone I know is looking for *opinions* on what ISP to go for. They've been on a 1 Mbps link from some ISP and what they are getting is far from satisfactory. So he's looking for an ISP with low downtimes, fair cost and excellent customer service. Someone has already suggested UUNET because they are now MTN... but I think that's a speculation, but it may be a correct assumption. Your ideas are most welcome and appreciated. Me. P.S. If you work for a ISP, please don't forward this to your sales and marketing team as I am not soliciting for quotations and requests for appointments; just *opinions* ;-)

You can get a link from Dimension Data which will be redundant on their end to failover to 2 ISPs. Cost is $900 for 1 Mbps Redudant link.

Simon, Are you shying off from naming an ISP so that you put us through some wild goose chase?? Isn't that someone you know paying for the 1Mbps service? Please just name the ISP and given what we know about ISPs, we'll tell you the next one to try. What it means is that Dimension Data manage for you a quality link from any two ISPs over MPLS. You can try Safaricom and Orange redundant FIBRE links

ISP selection is like a circular ladder. As much as we suggest the better one thinking we are headed for best service we ironically find ourselves at the bottom with unsatisfactory service. My take is as good as tossing a coin, all of them are thieves for as much as they purport to sell "dedicated bandwidth" they NEVER. As it is am pegged to Access Kenya...I am at the bottom!
