I need to disable USB ports on a workstation in such a way USB flash disk cannot be used but one can use a modem running windows XP

Go to Start > Regedit Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CURRENT CONTROL SET > SERVICES > USBStor Find Start in the right pane Double click "Start" In the "Edit DWORD value" box, write down "4" in the "value data" field (replace the "3" value) Click OK and then close the Registry Editor. You may need to restart your machine so the changes can take effect.

Good stuff Sheeroh, I'm just wondering whether this won't throttle the use of USB modems as well. Tony.
