Five reasons to give up Firefox<http://onsoftware.en.softonic.com/five-reasons-to-give-up-firefox> 1: Memory usage Sure, there are thousands of neat *add-ons* for Firefox, but install a few and after a while you'll see its memory use rocket. I have often discovered Firefox eating a *gigabyte* of memory after a few hours at work, which is just unreasonable. I have found Opera and Google are much lighter on resources over a day in the office. 2: Looks I know there is beauty on the inside, but why not have it outside too? When it comes to your browser, you don't need to compromise with attractiveness. Firefox has been leapfrogged by everyone when it comes to looking great - even the dreaded *Internet Explorer*<http://internet-explorer-8.en.softonic.com/>is looking better these days. 3: Out-dated features Have you seen the downloader in Chrome? Firefox will just seem inadequate once you have. Firefox extensions? You have to restart the browser to install. Those are just two of the Mozilla browser's out-of-date features. Try Opera if you want to see a truly modern feature set. What's more, the Firefox interface takes up more room than is necessary - changing browser will give you more browsing real estate to play with. 4: Stability Firefox crashes every day for me. I discovered that with Chrome, each tab is a separate process and so you can isolate and kill the problem without losing all of your open tabs. That's much better, and minimizes your chances of losing work. 5: Familiarity isn't good A fact of computing is rapid change - don't let comfortable familiarity keep you from moving with the times or you may find yourself too far behind to catch up. Just because a feature works differently doesn't mean it doesn't work at all! Familiarity is what keeps *IE 6* and *7* in the browser charts. Safari, Chrome and Opera all do things in their own ways, but they are all great browsers and you're missing out if you don't give them a chance! http://onsoftware.en.softonic.com/five-reasons-to-give-up-firefox -- Regards, Yvonne Mwajuma

I recently moved to Chrome. But soon, Mozilla is to release version 4 soon. Anyone tried the beta yet? On 4 February 2011 12:02, Yvonne Mwajuma <yvonnemwajuma@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, Have to disagree with almost every point you have there, *Memory Usage* don't forget that every tab on chrome is a separate process, when it comes to 'eating up memory and cpu time' Chrome rocks. *Looks* The new Firefox looks pretty much like Chrome so you can't really say that one is uglier. Personally would prefer Firefox to keep its identity but if thats the look that moves the masses then.... *out-dated features* Personally I find Firefox faster at downloading stuff than Chrome and in addition you can pause a download on firefox but not in chrome. In chrome when you have to close the browser then you have to cancel the download!!!!!!! *Stability* Please update your Firefox, or re-install it *Familiarity* There is more to familiarity than you are mentioning e.g keyboard shortcuts, add-ons etc stuff that take time to perfect, you just don't move away from that. By the way the reason why I.e still exists is coz it comes pre-installed in your windows, most non-geeks won't go looking for something they already have

Chrome is a 'private' browser hence will add features faster than Firefox, which has to standardize its features.

I've been dual-boxing with Chrome on my PC and Firefox on my Mac. I like the functionality of both, and could go with either of them and not think about the other for a while. I would like to see more quality 3rd party plugins/extensions for Chrome, but it's getting there. I don't like Google having their hooks into me one more way though, so if forced to really choose (which I do as my Mac is my daily machine), then I choose Firefox for this reason alone. for simple browsing I've moved to chrome for it Remains of the Day: The World's Fastest Web Browser Gets a Little Bit Faster<http://lifehacker.com/5751368/remains-of-the-day-the-worlds-fastest-web-browser-gets-a-little-bit-faster> check out this link apart from chrome being light and starts up faster than all the other browsers I lav the way it's multi threaded and it's uptime is great with quick response time.....with good management of plugins i.e flash player sites. I got to know this by participating in cyber cafe support where a user has kind of 5 links of porn sites on Firefox and and Firefox itself is freezing leave alone the memory usage. but on loading the same links on chrome everything is good. with the automatic separation of tabs in the browser into operating system processes On Fri, Feb 4, 2011 at 2:29 AM, [Brainiac] <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:

I got to know this by participating in cyber cafe support where a user has kind of 5 links of porn sites on Firefox and and Firefox itself is freezing leave alone the memory usage. but on loading the same links on chrome everything is good. with the automatic separation of tabs in the browser into operating system processes

Five reasons to give up Firefox<http://onsoftware.en.softonic.com/five-reasons-to-give-up-firefox> 1: Memory usage
Sure, there are thousands of neat *add-ons* for Firefox, but install a few and after a while you'll see its memory use rocket. I have often discovered Firefox eating a *gigabyte* of memory after a few hours at work, which is just unreasonable. I have found Opera and Google are much lighter on resources over a day in the office. 2: Looks
I know there is beauty on the inside, but why not have it outside too? When it comes to your browser, you don't need to compromise with attractiveness. Firefox has been leapfrogged by everyone when it comes to looking great - even the dreaded *Internet Explorer*<http://internet-explorer-8.en.softonic.com/>is looking better these days. 3: Out-dated features
Have you seen the downloader in Chrome? Firefox will just seem inadequate once you have. Firefox extensions? You have to restart the browser to install. Those are just two of the Mozilla browser's out-of-date features. Try Opera if you want to see a truly modern feature set. What's more, the Firefox interface takes up more room than is necessary - changing browser will give you more browsing real estate to play with. 4: Stability
Firefox crashes every day for me. I discovered that with Chrome, each tab is a separate process and so you can isolate and kill the problem without losing all of your open tabs. That's much better, and minimizes your chances of losing work. 5: Familiarity isn't good
A fact of computing is rapid change - don't let comfortable familiarity keep you from moving with the times or you may find yourself too far behind to catch up. Just because a feature works differently doesn't mean it doesn't work at all! Familiarity is what keeps *IE 6* and *7* in the browser charts. Safari, Chrome and Opera all do things in their own ways, but they are all great browsers and you're missing out if you don't give them a chance!

while google chrome looks fancy n all my biggest problem is how it renders css, i had hoped it was going to be better unfortunately it only beats IE but cant outdo FF. I use both chrome and FF3.6 but still FF does the trick, apply tweaks here and there just to ensure it works in both. If i could find the dude who developed the browser call'd IE [they should now call it horror explorer or something], i'd hang/hung him/her then burn the tree!!

the only browser that will render the statehouse website well is Lynx :-) *For user experience* You all should try using OPERA 11! You will find that it combines the best of all worlds and adds more. The only downside is that it isn't open. Would have loved to see its code. *For compatibility* Firefox RULES! By using Gecko, you are guaranteed that you will view any website 99.99999999% undistorted. *For Development* Opera's Dragonfly rocks *For Development 2* Chrome/Chromium's developer's tools are a godsend...javascript debugger, watches and breakpoints...the works! almost like a fully fledged IDE *For HTML5* si mimi nimesema but you might be shocked... a trend has been broken.
