Perhaps your question is an FAQ already:-) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

Good... Scenario: We have deployed a wireless LAN using *Mikrotik* routers and radios in a compound. The compound has One main office and other houses, some on the left some on the right. So the guys on the right have been having latency problems causing slow internet. Am able to telnet to the router on the left and indeed its true since I am getting high latencies and in some cases latencies. What could be causing this? On commission of the site everything was working as it should and the only recent changes have been replacement of one of the Outdoor radios? What are some of the ways I can remedy this? And while at it, someone please tell me how I can check the signal strength using the winbox manager and what range it should be Thank you On Fri, Oct 2, 2009 at 10:45 AM, Steve Muchai <smuchai@gmail.com> wrote:

Am wondering what range, are we talking of a big compound of KMs radius or just a stone throw? Check 2 things; 1./ Wireless card - may have worn out - seen it once happen 2./ Frequency interference - running 2.4bg/2.4g-turbo or 5.x Ghz ? 3./ Scan by going to interface>wireless>(wlanx int)> - there are tabs on right (scan/snooper etc) W/T 2009/10/2 James Wachira <jwaciira.lists@gmail.com>

Check the panel, frequency usage(on /interface/wireless frequency usage button, this will show which channels are being used heavily and should guide you to the right one that is not used ) and if you have more than one radio/panel make sure you dont use the same channel. And on the signal strength go /interface/wireless/registration that should give the clients signal strength On Fri, Oct 2, 2009 at 2:14 PM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:
