I believe the Managing Editor is a member here, any clarification? I'm using a prepaid corporate plan with Taxify, should i sudo exit? Bravo

Hi Maisiba, When we get information from anyone other than the official source we seek clarification. And we did so. That's indicated in the story, that by the time we published they hadn't responded. We also updated the story when they replied to our email and questions. http://www.techweez.com/2016/11/18/taxi-hailing-in-kenya/ When they say everything is false in the article, we can prove that we sent them an email and they hadn't responded 5 hours later when we published the story. They responded right after we published. Sendy, also a subject in the story responded quite early. Regards, Martin Gicheru Managing Editor at Techweez, No. 10. Collins, Skunkworks is filtered on a label, not on my main inbox. My assumption is that it is nice to at least acknowledge receipt. And in our article we indicated we hadn't received response, we updated the article as soon as we had one, so the article would only affect those who read article titles. Kevin, This was regarding Xtravalue app <https://twitter.com/kamonye/status/780768161041879040> which initially was explicit on intentions of contacts app contents for marketing purposes to third parties. Yes. I was calling on your 'journalistic' 'skills' to help me understand/investigate why entity X would require the same kind of permissions that you were criticizing entity Y for. Your response gave me enough grounds to make some assumptions. Many tech blogs/sites are getting into major conflicts of interest/choice once they cross a certain threshold of success ie. when they become what would traditionally be categorized as a media house even though they would not admit to it so that they do not have to fall under government regulation etc etc.. I will give you the most hot example as published below. http://www.techweez.com/2016/11/21/facebook-fake-news/ Kevin On 22 November 2016 at 14:57, Martin Gicheru <martin@techweez.com> wrote:

That's what you call dubious journalism?

You will recall that I called you out on twitter not too long ago about the dubious journalism I picked up from Techweez.
And surely you must also know that most will only browse the headlines in this world of content overload.

Now that we're here. What would members wish we changed over at Techweez. We thrive when we have the community on our side. And it's good that we are being put to task when we are considered wrong. If we weren't it would mean we are invisible. Regards, Martin Gicheru Sent on the run.

You have zero ads on the first view port. Standardmedia has two, Nation has none, BD has 3. Does this mean you dont make your money from ads. You could add a "guest" section whose content is not dumbed down for the mass market; e.g. @Odhiambo writing about BGB or such, @Eugene on scaling out, @areba on... etc etc Why not do a feature on the infamous IFPMS? That thing is giving Kenyan software a bad rep. On Wed, Nov 23, 2016 at 6:40 AM, Martin Gicheru <martin@techweez.com> wrote:

Peter, Yes Peter, we currently have no ads, economy has had a thing on the industry. We however do sponsored stories for products, especially for small and medium companies http://www.techweez.com/sponsored/ We do not dumb down content for the mass market, we try to work the best fit between tech heavy content and content that would get a sizeable readership. We do take in opinion pieces, no need to create a special guest column, anyone wishing to tell a story can do so in the Editorial section. See examples: Opinion: Kenya’s Privacy of Electronic Money at Risk <http://www.techweez.com/2016/06/27/opinion-kenyas-privacy-electronic-money-risk/> by Micheal Kimani Understanding the IP Rating for Devices You Use <http://www.techweez.com/2016/10/19/understanding-ip-rating/> by George Warutere Regarding IFMIS, we try avoid writing topics we are not strong on. Writing on IFMIS would require dedicated resources to follow a story in order to make sense to those who it would be targeted at. And right now getting interviews on IFMIS is not the easiest of things, especially since it borders on being political. We would however welcome anyone to write an opinion on it. I have reached out to Bitange recently on this, but he'd just done a piece on Daily Nation. Regards, Martin Gicheru Managing Editor at Techweez, No. 10.
