There is an application called EasyRecovery Professional. Should work but I am not guaranteeing it. I have a copy, I can give it to you. And just out of curiosity, why did someone let a Microsoft Outlook PST file grow to 8GB? Files larger than 2GB are hard enough to handle.
First of all, going forwards, its not a good idea to have such a large pst. It is a recipe for disaster both from a corruption perspective and for a disaster recovery basis. Create several archives -- perhaps quarterly. As for your problem you need to make sure that: You have at least 12GB free -- the tool recreates the PST file so you need at least as much space free plus some extra You leave it to run in peace.
