First of all, going forwards, its not a good idea to have such a large pst. It is a recipe for disaster both from a corruption perspective and for a disaster recovery basis. Create several archives -- perhaps quarterly.

As for your problem you need to make sure that:

You have at least 12GB free -- the tool recreates the PST file so you need at least as much space free plus some extra
You leave it to run in peace. It may appear to hang but it might actually be doing something
