[SKUNKWORKS] Thin SIM gets the Nod, expected

http://techmoran.com/communications-authority-approves-thin-sim/ ” The thin SIM complies with all minimum mandatory international standards pertaining to the manufacturing of the thin SIM. No major complaints and particularly on interception of traffic of the primary SIM card has been reported so far.” .......... ...................Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya announced that there is no sufficient evidence to block in the Kenyan market the entry of the thin SIM and the Authority will allow the use of thin SIM technology under strict observation for a period of one year. During this period, only Taisys’ SIMoME® thin SIM will operate in the Kenyan market. The card will be deployed on a "pilot" that will be under strict observation, this will be interesting to watch Regards, Martin Gicheru | Editor, Techweez Website:http://www.techweez.com | Skype ID: martingicheru | Twitter ID: @martingicheru <https://twitter.com/martingicheru> | Gplus: +MartinGicheru <http://google.com/+MartinGicheru>

Apart from the statement backing the security of the thin SIM, is there any new development from what the authority pronounced two weeks ago? Refer to the link below : http://www.nation.co.ke/business/Equity-gets-nod-to-launch-services-on-thin-... Tony.

Anyone using this to share experiences? On Mon, Sep 22, 2014 at 3:40 PM, Tony Likhanga via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

I have used the SIM: http://www.infotake.co.ke/2014/09/how-does-equity-banks-equitel-work.html Don't think Thin SIM has been distributed, unless to a few staff. Likely to appear at launch.

Just keep in mind it acts as an active module. ie The phone thinks the ThinSIM is the main SIM & the Main SIM thinks the ThinSIM is the phone. This means (in theory) the ThinSIM can do anything. So the onus is left on the vendor to ensure that malicious use of this capability doesn't manifest itself. But then again, I think I just saw a flying pig.... -ty On Mon, Sep 22, 2014 at 5:50 PM, Dennis Kioko via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

While I do understand all the excitement about equitel, at this point all I want is a safaricom thin sim to keep using the all but ubiquitous mpesa while enjoying lower data rates from other providers. On 22 September 2014 22:26, ty via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:
