Hi all, I wonder if i can trouble y'all for a solution. I upgraded to F11 (from F10 which was working great). Now when i boot the comp, i get to the login screen. After inserting my username and password the comp makes like its loading the desktop, but never gets there. The cursor has the swirly thing and it goes on and on for hours. I have tried moving xorg.conf and restarting the computer..didnt work. I did however find this error in x-session file: gone-session[30957]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-panel.desktop' failed to register before timeout. Ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated. Mark.

This would be most like a theme issue you could try load failsafe ama you move the theme files from your home directory to another place so as to boot the default theme. Hi Mark K While on command prompt as root create a new user, [ useradd newusername ], reset the password to this account [ passwd newusername ], then use this credentials to login, keep an eye on F12 {might have changed with the new fedora} it echoes all messages from the system. If this works then their is a settings conflict with your profile, if not your installation is the problem. also try other desktop UI's Am interested in a copy of F11 i386 & x86_64 can i get them from you? @Okechukwu, my completely rusted memory banks, am sure many on the list know this design as well : Black Mamba DC Dyno = 2 Amp Zener Diode in parallel with dynamo output and 10-50uF/100v capacitor = 5.2 volt regulated output @250mAmp = charge phone. Zener Diode will regulate the over voltage if the dynamo speed is producing more output while phone will not charge if underspeed.? The regulator circuit is an old one dating back to early 80s? Not to discourage the innovator, I think he/she should step up the challenge a bit more at Uni Level? :-) 2009/7/28 Okechukwu okechukwu@gmail.com

@Aki - True, but none of us really implemented this - we knew the theory, but never believed it was viable, or so I think :-) I agree it is way below uni level, but the mindeset to serve a need is worth noting. ./Ok3ch On Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 5:55 PM, aki <aki275@googlemail.com> wrote:

Methinks this a great idea - harnessing tech to meet a glaring need. Why, I'm almost certain that this can sell over 1 million pieces in Kenya alone - if priced correctly - between 100-200 bob. Of course, it will mostly sell in rural areas, so one must factor in distribution costs. How much will it cost to produce a cheap one? ________________________________ From: Areba Collins <arebacollins@gmail.com> To: Skunkworks forum <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> Sent: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 1:23:39 AM Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] DSTV on Matatus Was just wondering, is our news media so out of stuff to air that some bloke charging a phone from a bike makes news? David Most of them dont work but I know one which worked for sometime. Its on the Kayole route. But basically you know that DSTV now rely on Ku band which doesnt reply so much on the Line of sight but its so much on the near line of sight of teh satellites and they can point to many satellites. SO as longs as there are not much blockage, they will work. If you have been to the big ships which dock at the coast, you will realise that they have the satellite TV. I think that such terrestial antena can work well in Mats 2009/7/28 David Njuki <njukey@gmail.com>

correction kidogo :-) Ku Band or any sat service need a LOS. 1 degree change in any direction is the equivalent of 400 miles out there, thus each satellite spacing at between satellites is 2 degrees. I suspect the matatus are using a chinese DVB-H via 3g box on a fixed rate. http://www.tmcnet.com/ce/articles/21111-new-dvb-hdvb-t-mobile-tv-in-car.htm Nagravision, an independent provider of value-added content protection solutions, Magneti Marelli and Quantum, a supplier of innovative mobile multimedia devices and software, have jointly unveiled QTM TV, a DVB-H/DVB-T Pay-TV Mobile set top box for Automotive Applications. Sorry man. :-) Self promise was to keep it low and slowly fizzle out... still learning c# , its become an obsession now. next in a few months time, I might be murmuring instant, constructor, blah blah. cannot help it. *But my outright respect goes to the techie who came up with that idea for matatus and made it happen. Who ever this guy/girl takes the innovative idea of the month. hehehe..* 2009/7/28 David Njuki <njukey@gmail.com>
Aki, you realize you know too much ;)

The innovation of these matatu guys still fascinates me, i wouldnt be surprised if the next thing is having WiFi on them,if they dont have them already since there has been such a big fuss about connectivity lately. -- Δαβίδ Samuel Goldwyn<http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/s/samuel_goldwyn.html> - "I'm willing to admit that I may not always be right, but I am never wrong."

It doesent work, its just a gimmick. They record TV programmes on DStv and then replay them on the matatus, it appears real because of the dish, but u shud find out how digital satelite works, a small change in the dish and you completely loose the signal On 7/28/09, aki <aki275@googlemail.com> wrote:
correction kidogo :-) Ku Band or any sat service need a LOS. 1 degree change in any direction is the equivalent of 400 miles out there, thus each satellite spacing at between satellites is 2 degrees. I suspect the matatus are using a chinese DVB-H via 3g box on a fixed rate.

Am tempted to sway with the use of DVB-enabled handsets.some of them have TV-ins and outs slots. This according to my limited knowledge is my theory on hoe it works. On Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 9:27 AM, miky maina <mikymaina@gmail.com> wrote:

Is there anyone in the list who has used these matatus and can testify that it is online - for example u might just ask to check sth on supersport active and see if the dates are current? I think I will have to take one just for fun even though I nowadays have no idea where mats for Buru are taken. ./Ok3ch On Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM, aki <aki275@googlemail.com> wrote:
