@Phares, you forget that your comparison is based on high end machines. Not everyone is going to afford these machines but the IBM is a serious contender for people on the move. It also provides an optional WWAN EDVO/HSPA modules thus no need for external modems which is very important. Upto 15 hours battery life on a 9 cell battery while upto 23 hours with an external pack. The IBM also contains the 4G - WIMAX 6250 module providing for seamless Wimax in countries where available. The second generation core i7-2620 Intel processor has all the high end features including USB3.0 version. Weight is less than 1.3kgs. And the best part : Because of Windows, it will run 99% of any additional device straight out of the box. Simple, Reliable each time you need it to work. You can focus on other important things. @Alvin, you need some technology classes... :-)) -- **Sent from my Microsoft/Intel based computer. Affordable & reliable computing for Decades**

@ Aki If you have more qualifications than me in IBM/Lenovo please feel free to post them here. On my post I gave the part Number and all those details you gave are there on the website/s. I know which side my bread is buttered so those who are serious about purchasing get the FACTS they require. Cheers :-) On Fri, Nov 18, 2011 at 1:49 AM, aki <aki275@gmail.com> wrote:

Cheers @Alvin. :-) @Watchman or other MAC followers, what is the cost of a 3 year warantee plan? When one purchases a MAC Book, what warante period is including in the purchase price? Rgds. -- **Sent from my Microsoft/Intel based computer. Affordable & reliable computing for Decades**

I checked online, and Apple Care plan seems to be about USD250 for 3 years. A new MAC comes with a 1 year warantee. @Peter's price assesment, the MAC Book Pro @1,799USD ( Is this a local price or shipping and handling costs needed to be added? ), therefore total cost including a 3 year warantee plan put the MAC at @2049USD. Adding the 128GB SSD drive = @221USD. Grand total on the MAC is = @USD 2,270. However, all the modem and wimax features not there. Turns out MAC is still more expensive then the IBM X220 laptop. Corrections welcome.

Add shipping and Handling costs - this price was off the web :-) am sure Peter didnt add that :-) On Fri, Nov 18, 2011 at 3:17 AM, aki <aki275@gmail.com> wrote:

bernard *whathaveIdonetoday?*
Well @Bernard, continuing in the spirit of Friday, here's a short story for your notes. Right, some will say that you need to add the price of an anti-virus to the IBM which will not cost more than USD25. Now on the MAC laptop, you most likely need a protective cover against scratches or dents for the aluminium body which adds another 30-60USD to the price. *Here's a short fictitious story:* *Young guy Part 1:* "When I bought my MAC, it had a beautiful aluminuim body. Sleek, matt finish with, really sweet and nice. This is my Bentley. Then I met a friend who told me the need to protect the metal body against scratches or dents. Remember this is metal, it will scratch very easily, so he recommneded that I buy a protective cover for it. Brilliant idea though it adds a few more mm thus increasing the original thin size. I can live with that he thought to himself. Afterall, behind the cover is the real Bentley" *Young guy now a millionare, has a girlfriend and actually bought a bentley Part 2:* "Hey Darlin', lets go for a drive in my Bentley. " The Bentely is custom painted and has a unique paint job. But he has to remove the protective canvas that was guarding the paint job against UV-light, so while his GF impatiently waits to sit in the car, the young guy takes about 5 minutes so that the Bentley is driveable. So they both head out of town, enjoy the super confort ride, hey life is good. They reach the rest point and the guy has to cover the Bentley again to protect the custom paint work from UV-light. This happens the entire trip and the GF is now very irritated with the attention the car is getting..... Back home, she calls him to the Garage and says she has to run an errand. She starts her sporty 6 speed high tech Toyota, reverses out of the Garage and tells him : "Darlin, need a lift? I love my Toyota, please return your Bentley as it's not practical. You will die young just removing and covering your car! , See yu later.. " With that said, she puts the foot to the Toyota accelerator, does a figure of 8 spin with the tyres screeching and smoking and leaves for her errand. Who said Toyota's were slow or lacked performance? -- **Sent from my Microsoft/Intel based computer. Affordable & reliable computing for Decades**

And finally, For those who look down on Microsoft/IBM/Intel (Nissan, Toyota) on comparison with MACS (Bentley's etc). If I worked for Microsoft/IBM/Intel, I'd put a marketing sticker on these! The sounds tell you why a processor between 2.7 & 2.2 would make such a difference. And yes, once you're done with the speed adrenaline rush, you can take the same car for a weekend shopping too. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpeZCi4BwVk&feature=related

@Samuel I adopted the same opinion after hearing suggestions that a certain laptop model should be powered on for not more than 4 hrs contrary to first hand experience _______________________________________________ *Good judgement comes from Experience.* *Most of that comes from Bad Judgement.* _______________________________________________ * * 2011/11/19 aki <aki275@gmail.com>
