A blind person asked me to recommend a phone he can use. The challenge he is experiencing is double pressing of buttons due to their closeness. I need a phone its keypads are widely apart, well arranged and preferably big.

Depending on budget constraints and all, I'd recommend the E51 or E52...both have a fairly large keypad and have an inbuilt "Read messages" functionality that can be accessed with a long key press. Plus they 'speak' the name of the calling party which i suspect would be a useful functionality. On Wed, Sep 14, 2011 at 10:34 AM, kimondo Duncan <kimondodk@gmail.com>wrote:

I appreciate bungua, the budget is not an issue.

I have found what I need. NUANCE TALKS.

which phone did you recommend? On Wed, Sep 14, 2011 at 2:46 PM, kimondo Duncan <kimondodk@gmail.com> wrote:

Tried installing the nuance talks software on a Nokia E72. It did not work. Other models I am considering trying are Nokia N82 but I don't know guys offering it. I believe getting the nuance software to work would be great. Am being told there was a Sony Ericsson having the feature to read out contacts and sms messages. I yet to know the model

Wouldn't a QWERTY keypad be an impediment to someone visually challenged? On Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 8:54 AM, kimondo Duncan <kimondodk@gmail.com> wrote:

Sure it is but it is. All the phone models I can find none has the text to audio feature. More also how will the blind guy navigate his saved contacts without the audio feature.

Check the Nokia's I mentioned earlier (E51 and E52). They come with "voice aid" as standard. I've just tested it. It actually has it's own set of sub menu's to access contacts, messages as well as settings such as blue tooth. On Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 9:11 AM, kimondo Duncan <kimondodk@gmail.com> wrote:

I appreciate samuel. . I couldn't get the part for voice aid from their reviews.I will try either of them.

I guess an application like voice dialer would be good for him. Unless he also types sms's. On Thu, Sep 15, 2011 at 9:37 AM, kimondo Duncan <kimondodk@gmail.com> wrote:
