Linux hands on training

Someone recommend the best hands on training on Linux/Unix in town.

I always believe the best hands on training is installing on the machine, and downloading one of the many Linux bibles - IMHO ./Ok3ch On Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 6:40 AM, mabeya conseray <mbshem@gmail.com> wrote:

'Hands on' training only comes from working with Linux.Let nobody cheat you that you will learn how to use Linux by attending a class or going through 'practical' lessons.Download any distro,a good start would be Ubuntu or Fedora since they have an easy-to-use GUI,use Virtualbox to install it on your machine then download some of the free tutorials available online (like these http://ftacademy.org/materials)and then practice on your own.I started using Linux/UNIX systems when I was in Uni.Lecturers only introduced us to them as a btw and most of my peers were happy with XP and Vista and therefore didn't see the point.I acquired all my skills on Linux through self-study and right now I can deploy and administer them on any scale, from small businesses to very large enterprises! Maybe it's time the Linux lovers started a local "community" initiative whose objective would be training people on Linux/Unix. On Wed, Feb 15, 2012 at 10:58, Christian Ledermann < christian.ledermann@gmail.com> wrote:

@Wash, would also like to see one for *BSD, seriously. I have actually officially switched from Linux to P.C BSD on the desktop. Would not mind using FreeBSD on the servers, especially for doing http / Web and database (PostGREs?) services. Martin.

So, I should start a community initiative for training young people on using *BSD as a server:-) Seriously though, you can consult me offlist as much as you like - on using *BSD as a server. On Wed, Feb 15, 2012 at 11:32, Martin Chiteri <martin.chiteri@gmail.com>wrote:
