'Hands on' training only comes from working with Linux.Let nobody cheat you that you will learn how to use Linux by attending a class or going through 'practical' lessons.Download any distro,a good start would be Ubuntu or Fedora since they have an easy-to-use GUI,use Virtualbox to install it on your machine then download some of the free tutorials available online (like these http://ftacademy.org/materials)and then practice on your own.I started using Linux/UNIX systems when I was in Uni.Lecturers only introduced us to them as a btw and most of my peers were happy with XP and Vista and therefore didn't see the point.I acquired all my skills on Linux through self-study and right now I can deploy and administer them on any scale, from small businesses to very large enterprises!
I second Okechukwu just get one distro and learn from it bt i would advice that u start with Ubuntu its much 'simpler' but feel free to try any.......Welcome to the 'Open Source World':)On 14 February 2012 11:01, Denis G. Wahome <dwahome@gmail.com> wrote:tldg.org +1
