Joomla and Community Builder problems

Hey skunkworks-erians... I have Joomla 1.5 installed and have installed the Community Builder component However when I try to add some components to Community Builder I get the error - - Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package. - Path does not have a valid package. I have searched in the folder and the XML file exists.Have also tried unzipping the folder and installing it and i get the same error. Suggestions??

PHP 4 vs 5 issues, Most likely youre on siteground. but just in case, check directory permissions of temp and /upload and next time post the following: joomla version cb version server setup (eg. shared hosting on linux,...e.t.c -> ) On 7/15/09, Shiro Njagi <sheeroh@gmail.com> wrote:

1: What server environment is the joomla installed on? (windows, linux?...) 2: In the install directory, is the folder /tmp , and /administrator/cache writeable? 3: If you tried installing a component, check the /components and /administrator/components to see if the previous attempt created the folders, delete them (the com_component you want to install). 4: Which version of joomla do you have installed? 5: Which version of community builder? 6: Assuming youve backed up your stuff, does uninstalling community builder and reinstalling it work? 7: if 6 is true, does uninstalling community builder and installing another component work? 8: if 6 and 7 are both false, does a different version of joomla under the same conditions have the same problem? 9: if 8 is true, maybe there is a problem with the configuration.php -> which you can post so that we check it out. 10: if 8 is false, then maybe you have issues with the hosting environment. What you should maybe begin with is check if there is a version of joomla , community builder that works./ Cheers. On 7/15/09, Shiro Njagi <sheeroh@gmail.com> wrote:

1. Joomla version 1.5 2. Community Builder version 1.2 Other components can be installed on CB but some have issues I am working with Windows I havent tried installing and uninstalling, is it really necessary? Yes Joomla 1.0 had the same issue but with different components so I installed 1.5 and new components compatible with the new version, some of which are giving me these problems On Wed, Jul 15, 2009 at 12:21 PM, Areba Collins <arebacollins@gmail.com>wrote:

Wait! 1: 1.5 has 11 versions? if its the latest, ill assume 1.5.11 (at least last time i checked). are you trying to install components (in the same manner cb is a component) or add ons to Cb? 2: On windows ive never had an issue with permissions, so ill assume its ok. 3: A snapshot of the configuration.php file would help, plus maybe a snapshot of a phpinfo file: just in case: a) in the base directory of the joomla install, open the configuration.php file and post the contents: (or at least the vars that show directory paths like var $log_path = 'C:\\apache\\htdocs\\duara\\logs'; var $tmp_path = 'C:\\apache\\htdocs\\duara\\duara\\tmp'; b) create an empty php file and put <?php phpinfo(); ?> and then open http://localhost/phpinfo.php and copy what you see and send. these might help.
