yesterday my machine developed this problem all files, programs were replaced by vlc when you click any program the only thing opens up is vlc but when i uninstalled vlc everything went to normal and if i reinstall the vlc the same problem returns what should i do?

Looks like this is a late response but a solution when uninstalling and reinstalling VLC is to uncheck the box the asks you to keep your previous installation's settings under custom install option. If you leave it checked then it will pickup the entire previous mess you had and use it in the new installation.
