Good Signal Strength, Poor Signal Quality - Free-to-Air Digital TV

View attached pic. Also the Startimes sound seems to be distorted especially when listening to music. Hard to notice this with your TV speaker. Some channels picture quality look worse than KBC. Also does the regulator check the quality of the signal? Just asking?

Some simple troubleshooting would be to start by checking your antenna and cable connections. Any feedback from your service provider? -- keybase.io/kipyegonmark

Jacob, Operations cost dictates channel video/audio quality. If the quality is bad from the source, its hard/expensive for broadcaster(star/go Tv...) to improve quality. If the quality is good from studio/source but the broadcast want to reduce cost, they can re-encode and reduce bitrate (thus poor quality) HD Quality=More bandwidth=less channels per band=high operations cost. This digital migration has been long overdue. Which means that the quality should have been tested and confirmed a long time ago. I noticed that the sound sometimes is not in sync with the picture but on analogue it is. Signal is not available at all places. in some cases, you cannot get the signet signal yet you are within coverage area. Local stations have extremely poor quality while international seems okay. This is especially enhanced if you have those huge TVs. Some local stations keep on scratching (I have noted this even on DSTV). Over to quality assurance.
