Hey guyz Av bn having some problem av bn tryn to diagonise wats the problem when ur computer sudenly restarts in the middle of our work and how do u take care of that?

can be many things ..... causing it to restart. you can 1. check the log tables to see what caused the restarts 2. check to see if the processor fun is fixed well. 3. listen to the beep codes when it starts how many beeps it makes. 4. can be corrupt drivers 5. can be a loose Hardisk 6. can be a loose RAM 7. ETC.....vitu nyingi sana!!

7. Can be a defective RAM chip, did u upgrade RAM recently? 8. Can be a nasty virus 9. ETC.....vitu nyingi sana!! Eliminate potential causes, e.g. i. Open casing and confirm processor fan is spinning ok (if u cant see the blades, its fast enough) ii. Check Device Manager to see if any drivers are labelled as not working properly iii. Remove any new RAM chip, if you've upgraded recently iv. Update your antivirus and scan, scan, scan! v. Confirm if the restart is user initiated i.e. caused by something the user did; start the PC and leave it alone, see if it restarts by itself. vi. There are several log files on Linux/Unix systems. /var/log/messages comes to mind first.
Also where do I find reboot/shutdown log.
There is a 'last' command which may be helpful. Perhaps there is also /var/run/dmesg.boot on Linux? I am not so sure but I know there is dmesg and it also has a lot to help you see what goes on. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube
