Hi All, Does anyone know if any of our GSM operators provide Micro SIM's now that iPhone4 and iPad 3G only supports micro SIM's? ./Ok3ch

Safaricom has them upon request - I know a few guys who are using them in their iPad. brian On Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 12:52 PM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

Or you can simply butcher a normal SIM :) On Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 12:57 PM, Brian Munyao Longwe <blongwe@gmail.com>wrote:

I once saw such contraptions where 2 KenCell and Safaricom 'micro-sims' would be soldered together to make a SIM in the days of dual-SIM phones which had to be rebooted to activate one or the other SIM.

@Philip, I think you are referring to the twin-sim kit. The two SIM cards would be trimmed down to smaller sizes then fitted into a miniature circuitry which had the switching logic. I doubt if soldering was necessary... well.... unless the alpha version leaked int the market LoL!

@Brian - thanks, will direct this dude with an iPad 3G to SufferingCon, I still love my iPad Wi-Fi & my iPhone 3G so I wont be doing the theatrics all you guys have adviced. ./Ok3ch On Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 1:13 PM, Tony Likhanga <tlikhanga@gmail.com> wrote:

BTW you can just use the normal sim card and cut it off the extra protruding part... and you have your Micro SIM for your iPad 3G or iPhone4 On Thu, Aug 12, 2010 at 3:32 AM, Theus Owicho <owichot@gmail.com> wrote:

There's some "trimming" kit available. The folks who make twin-sim kits use it.

Here is where market dynamics come in handy. The demand and supply will determine which the next level of SIM cards to be produced. I'm sure when Zain becomes Airtel, they'll need to think of this development and perhaps produce the Micro SIMs since they have to phase the current Zain SIM cards in the market. For Safaricom and the rest of the providers, that should be a determinant factor once there is a substantial market(or clientele) for iPADS!
