How much would one need to start an ISP ... Counting License?? Infrastructure ?? Band width ?? employees ?? ... with that cost maybe 100 Skunks willing to share that amount would pool together money and do it and in turn stop whining about poor service by ISPs .. Coz in that case they will not need customer care ... :-) - Strict QoS on the core:Offer clients value for their money,DO NOT OVERBOOK. - Managed Services. - Autofail overs. These three they will determine themselves :-) On 28 July 2011 11:14, Garr Patronas <garr.patronas@gmail.com> wrote:

How much would one need to start an ISP ... Counting License?? Infrastructure ?? Band width ?? employees ?? ... with that cost maybe 100 Skunks willing to share that amount would pool together money and do it and in turn stop whining about poor service by ISPs .. - Strict QoS on the core:Offer clients value for their money,DO NOT OVERBOOK. - Managed Services. - Autofail overs.
These three they will determine themselves :-)

@Wash - I once worked at a startup with you, that is why am so skeptical about anyone talking about starting an ISP. And just like @Josiah says, if you have the monies to start an ISP, why not just walk in and buy any of the ailing ones. And while at it, remember the Safcom & AK's of this planet aren't having toasting in your name :-)

I agree with Josiah, why would anyone want to start an ISP at this time? This list is full of people who have started several ISPs yet they are silent. Wonder why? The ISP graveyard is full of companies that had excellent core values and brilliant equipment. Enjoy, the ride maybe worth the fall. Kiania D. So here's my question to you who have asked questions on this thread like 10 bob from Saf Com etc. If Saf Com ever got down to 10Bob for Data, my job would be done. Here's the point of this venture. You as a consumer are currently satisfied quite clearly by the Data being provided by our Internet Data Providers, ISP's or whatyouwantocallthem. In my opinion, you're settling. I don't want to settle and i'm going to try and get people to understand what that feels like so i've got myself figuring out what that is going to entail. I've seemed to have got a few specialists who are enthusiastic about doing the ISP thing and i'm keen on making a dent on this economic slave maker so where do you want to stand? Anyhoo.. As long as you have a competitive edge that can be sustained(5 years down the line, maybe 10 or more) and that can survive the onslaught of Queen Bee and others with similarly deep pockets, then you have a chance. What kills many startups is starting with a good idea that runs out in no time, and in ICT, that horizon could be 6 months to a year. All the best and I hope all involved are willing to give it their all especially in the hard times. On Thu, Jul 28, 2011 at 10:21 PM, Watchman <skunkingrahim@gmail.com> wrote:

Here's the point of this venture. You as a consumer are currently satisfied quite clearly by the Data being provided by our Internet Data Providers, ISP's or whatyouwantocallthem. In my opinion, you're settling. I don't want to settle and i'm going to try and get people to understand what that feels like so i've got myself figuring out what that is going to entail.
I've seemed to have got a few specialists who are enthusiastic about doing the ISP thing and i'm keen on making a dent on this economic slave maker so where do you want to stand?
Anyhoo..
Updating soonest. There's been a breakthrough. :D

There's no secrecy here. I want this to be as open as possible so whoever is involved is aware that the idea behind getting this done is to provide a much stronger and open base, as well as a confidence in transparency. The silence at the moment is simply a matter of bringing all thoughts together so that there is a more structured and understandable approach that i can present. @David. I'm looking at existing setups and understanding all i can about the networking growth and abilities. I'll have your answer when i present the completed thought process. W.
