I implemented a short campaign for a voucher website a while ago. - Obtain a business number from Safaricom/Zain - Connect the SIM to a modem to a Laptop that's online 24/7 (you can use Swift/UUNET/other stable connection) - Create a desktop app that every 15 seconds or so that 1. Queries the modem for payments from the MPESA number 2. Parse the sms with a function to extract that Receipt number, the amount and the name of the payer 3. Updates your e-Commerce website DB with the Receipt number and name of the sender - On the website, ask the user to type in the receipt number - I think the rest is just details, yeah? If you're on windows, to go My Computer > Manage You'll see a list of the modems and when you click Properties you'll see the port it's on. It's available to always connect the modem to the same usb port that way you don't have to worry about the OS switching ports on you "without notice". Another tip, use the old Safaricom type modems, those were much easier to send AT commands to than these new lockable ones. On Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 12:37 AM, Kago Kagichiri <thekenyanprince@gmail.com>wrote:
