Another tip, use the old Safaricom type modems, those were much easier to send AT commands to than these new lockable ones.
If you're on windows, to go My Computer > ManageYou'll see a list of the modems and when you click Properties you'll see the port it's on. It's available to always connect the modem to the same usb port that way you don't have to worry about the OS switching ports on you "without notice".--
