Re: [Skunkworks] vacancies - 3 linux sys admins

Programming C++? for that amount? Are these guys going to be witting "Hello World!" applications all day? C++ is a VERY BIG and VERY COMPLICATED language. There's a lot that goes into developing a decent C++ program and it can take years of active development to master C++. Yeah theory can be learned in a couple of weeks and a simple app that asks your name and displays it can be built on your first day. That means nothing as far C++ is concerned, so don't start calling yourself a C++ programer just yet. So sking for a C++ programmer in that age bracket and that amount in this day an age is crazy as this generation has practically no production code experience in C++. If it were PHP, JAVA, C# thats another story but not with C++. my 2cents Steve Obbayi ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Njuki" <njukey@gmail.com> To: "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 2010 7:59:26 AM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] vacancies - 3 linux sys admins IMO if it is serious work just hire one experienced Linux admin and pay him/her the total sum paid to all the three "rookies" being sought after coz frankly I think with such job adverts that will lead people to eventually undermine Linux admins and what they are actually worth, Look at web design nowadays, you got every quack of tom, dick and harry doing it and charging meagre fees. -- ˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙˙ 'spɹɐƃǝɹ ıʞnɾu pıʌɐp _______________________________________________ Skunkworks mailing list Skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke http://lists.my.co.ke/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/skunkworks ------------ Skunkworks Server donations spreadsheet http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AopdHkqSqKL-dHlQVTMxU1VBdU1BSWJxdy1f... ------------ Skunkworks Rules http://my.co.ke/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=94 ------------ Other services @ http://my.co.ke

Ok i finally get the point , it about competence , which would required a more qualified person hence more experience yes the money would be little ......but as for the age bracket they mentioned its clear they are not looking for some one with experience
Well, as someone said earlier, the only place to get someone with experience within that age bracket is India, (and Russia !!) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

While we are on this subject *Guys start paying your interns*. Stop pretending they add no value to your organisations coz they do and they really work hard to impress. On Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 2:11 AM, Joseph Wayodi <jwayodi@gmail.com> wrote:

To conclude: In my first job - I was not paid - I was being given transport (for lunch, you sort yourself out - from the transport money). Most of the time, we had to wait until the Matatu fares dropped to 10/- after the peak time [?] !!! Remember; not everyone is a graduate (degree); and not everyone has finished their education yet. If you are on campus holidays; and you earn 25k per month - then you are seriously BAWLING !!!! [compare that with 14k Helb Loan in 3 months :-) ] *Quote Rich Dad Poor Dad [loosely]* : If you are starting out in the employment sectors; do not rush for the money; try to gain as much experience as you can, learn ways of working, professionalism etc and build yourself. When you are experienced, you may ask or look for a job with the salary you desire.
