Hey guys, Anybody know how to do it? When I download using IDM, the video file cannot be rendered. I have just downloaded two videos using Firefox's in-built/default download manager but still the file cannot be rendered. I have other .flv files on my HDD which I downloaded some time ago and are playable, so I don't think I need codecs or something of that sort. Ideas anyone? -- שִׁמְעוֹן

Have u added the .flv extension to ur files? On 06/07/2009, Simon Mbuthia <simon.mbuthia@gmail.com> wrote:

Try that for the already downloaded files. For future downloads try doing wat i do. Install RealPlayer then open the video u want to download. On the Youtube player, on the top right i think, when u move ua cursor above it, it highlights ''Download with RealPlayer''. Click and u r home. Its works very well on Firefox and IE browsers but not on Opera. KR, Nyarotho. On 6/7/09, Simon Mbuthia <simon.mbuthia@gmail.com> wrote:

DownloadHelper firefox plugin works like a charm...

Me thinks any video tagged as a Google Tech Talk (* http://www.youtube.com/user/googletechtalks*) should be downloadable by default. Google videos (that we cannot stream due to bandwidth issues) are not as CLEAR (as streamed versions) after being 'recorded' for download by Real Player and other browser plug ins. YouTube seems to have some new technology that encrypts their flv files such that when downloaded, they are not playable by FLV players. you only play them on the webpage. I have tried flashgot, downloadhelper, IDM, built-in browser download manager etc but :-( My PC has codecs for almost every video format under the sun (I'm a skunk like that!) but this one site has been giving me issues lately... So the problem is not that I haven't appended file extensions to the flv files or that I do not know how to download the files. the problem is to sidestep the encryption, or to decrypt the files.... whichever makes sense :-) On 08/06/2009, christiano kwena <christianokwena@googlemail.com> wrote:

@Martin... what? Any video from YouTube. What version of IDM are you using? And have you downloaded a video from youtube recently? On 08/06/2009, Brian Lusiola <lusiola@gmail.com> wrote:

YouTube seems to have some new technology that encrypts their flv files such that when downloaded, they are not playable by FLV players. you only play them on the webpage. I have tried flashgot, downloadhelper, IDM, built-in browser download manager etc but :-( My PC has codecs for almost every video format under the sun (I'm a skunk like that!) but this one site has been giving me issues lately...
So the problem is not that I haven't appended file extensions to the flv files or that I do not know how to download the files. the problem is to sidestep the encryption, or to decrypt the files.... whichever makes sense :-)

I am using IDM 5.17, I play these flv's on edia player classic ...installed through Klite mega codec build 485m.
This morning i downloaded two and they are playing as usual. The whole of last week i have done like 30... all of them play. I had problems rendering them on my previous version of klite codec pack... You may try installing the latest version of codecs.

thanks Martin, will do. Maybe there's a new compression format for FLV that YouTube are using??? I'll run an update. Thanks. 2009/6/8 Martin Muraguri <martinmur87@gmail.com>

The best and workable very free choices are these:- 1) download using 'keepvid' - the idea is not to use the urls at the top of the page but the ones on the right where it says "video url" - copy paste this in "keepvid.com" and click download 2) mozilla provides a pluggin called "downthemAll" which works very well to accelerate downloads... you can either right click on keepvid.com download button and "download link with downthemAll" and the mp4 will be there in a jiffy if you have good b/width 3) use vlc player --- it can play anything ... Even on an iphone, it can play avi(s)/divX(s) VLC can also convert to any format you like.

I still have the downloaded file on my PC at home. I will try playing it using VLC and let ya'll know what happens. As for dTa, I use it too on Linux (and IDM on Windows - I dual boot) 2009/6/8 ndungu stephen <ndungustephen@gmail.com>

Hey guys,
Anybody know how to do it? When I download using IDM, the video file cannot be rendered. I have just downloaded two videos using Firefox's in-built/default download manager but still the file cannot be rendered. I have other .flv files on my HDD which I downloaded some time ago and are playable, so I don't think I need codecs or something of that sort.
I'm using Free Download Manager without shidaz here. BR, S -- "A democracy is a sheep and two wolves deciding on what to have for lunch. Freedom is a well armed sheep contesting the results of the decision." - Stolen from someone else's sig.
