Hi Guys, I hope this kind is allowed here. A friend has asked me to make a decision for him regarding what laptop to buy and i can't say i know my hardware too well. Profile of the friend: Profession: Bank Manager Expectations: Reliable, light, fast, 'cool' machine. Performance demanded: Not a gaming buff but would still like to be one in the pack (with the rest of the boys) Gender: Man Savvyness: Well to quote him, 'a mercury laptop made my fingers itch' My dilemma, the decision i make, he takes. Catch 22, 'Budget is not a barrier' so be creative :) Requirement:] - warranty - support / reliable service centre readily available - reliable reseller -- Believe: - To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe ----Anatole France

IMHO, a MacBookPro is way too cool for a bank manager, unless he is the IT Manager, it will probably push him into midlife crisis then he'll go out and buy a porsche :-)
Here's my reasoning; If whichever non-mac laptop he chooses costs more that 100k, he might as well get the Macbook white @ 105k. Below 100k, I would go with Ngatia's suggestion, but specifically the XPS<http://www.chekelea.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=531>series. Also, 2GB RAM should be minimum, if he gets 4GB, then he'll need the OS to be 64bit. But on second thoughts, I would push him to get MBP then sit back and watch with glee as his savvyness shoots thru the roof :-)

Let him go get the Itronix hummer laptop or the acer ferrari. His expectations sound as if he wans a car and he should buy one of those. Those are fancy laptops so whnever he unleashes infront of the boys he'll het more than enuff ooohhss.... and aahhss.... I do not how much they cost but should be in the region of hundreds of thousands.A bank manager will obviously have a credit card so he can check online purchase options. Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Tablet with 4GB Memory and Intel Core i7-640LM Processor, or MacBook Pro 13" with a 2.66GHz processor 4 GB memory. Since budget is not a factor seeing that he works for the bank, he can swap the standard hard drive with a lightening fast Solid State Drive (I would recommend a Crucial RealSSD C300, but they tend to go for USD 750,but then again small things like cost is not a factor). The computer will be cooler and faster that he can handle or deserves. These SDD are like 50 times faster than the normal drive. Boot time either in Mac OS or Windows 7 will be reduced to less than 25 seconds.

The Toshiba Qosmio x305 Gaming Notebook Pictured Toshiba has some great looking notebooks in the Qosmio series, both in terms of the internal hardware and the overall look of the notebook. The Toshiba Qosmio x305 notebook will be released in mid-July and is already making ripples in the industry ever since it was announced and posted on the Toshiba website <http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X305>. The graphics on the Qismio x305 will be powered by the yet to be announced NVIDIAGeForce 9800M GTX graphics card, which has 1GB of video memory. For those that still want to game, but save some hard earned dollars we overheard that consumers can customize the notebook with the less expensive GeForce 9700M GT graphics card rather than the GeForce 9800M GTX. NVIDIA hasn't said much about this un-released graphics card, but they did have the Toshiba Qosmio x305 notebook on display at a Microsoft Corporation event this week called the Games for Windows Presents: The Big Picture<http://forums.legitreviews.com/about16297.html> . [image: Toshiba Qosmio x305 notebook] The Toshiba Qosmio x305 notebook was spotted doing what it does best, playing games on the Windows operating system.

Toshiba has some great looking notebooks in the Qosmio series, both in terms of the internal hardware and the overall look of the notebook.
