Re: [Skunkworks] 10mb Dedicated Internet Link

All, Any one who can give me a quotation for the above? Hopefully from a reliable company. Liquid Telkom and Access Kenya do not qualify!

Please tell us why Access Kenya does not qualify. It's a very reliable provider IMHO. Well, you know how to get Safaricom and JTL. They have web pages you can pick from. 1. http://www.faiba.co.ke/products/business 2. http://www.safaricom.co.ke/business/connectivity-solutions/internet-connecti... (difficult to find product offerings so you perhaps need to call them.) On 18 August 2015 at 10:13, mash lists via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Washington, I've Safcom on the primary. Acess Kenya IMHO has the worst support with dead links most of the time. On 18 August 2015 at 12:25, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

Mash, We have very few corporate internet providers, and if you rule out 2 of the biggest, you are remaining with either one or two others in Nairobi.Which leads me to think you have already made your choice, you are now just looking for some form of outside validation. Without Liquid or Access (IS), you are left to deal with Safaricom, JTL and Orange (Telkom). As Wash said, contacts are on their respective websites. But it might all come down to which provider has infrastructure ready in your premises. Zuku may also have some form of commercial offering, you can check them out. Skunks, What i have come to learn with ISPs in Kenya, there's no bad ISP and there's no good ISP. For the big boys i.e AK, Safaricom, Liquid, JTL, Wananchi, Telkom, there's always customers who are loyal, happy with the service and would never leave the ISP while at the same time there are strong critics who would never use that particular ISP. Just depends on how the shoe fits you. Regards On Tue, Aug 18, 2015 at 12:45 PM, Philip Musyoki via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Go with JTL - although they too have issues, their downtime does not happen often. Access (IS) has very poor customer support. Safaricom is expensive for SMEs. IMHO. Kakai On Aug 18, 2015 12:51 PM, "Philip Musyoki via skunkworks" < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

@Job the experience i have is what makes me say this. It has nothing to do with Faiba FUP, it has all to do with Customer service , response time to restore a link thats down. You can try them but if your link goes down on a Friday after noon am sorry you will only get an engineer to fix it on Monday midday. Most business today require INTERNET for communication and you can imagine the losses if you have no INTERNET from Friday to Monday midday simply because engineers were allocated duties on Friday morning and none is available till Monday for other allocations. Mash,
Actually JTL has the worst customer service in my opinion, right next to Zuku.

JTL looks like the way to go. However, I don't rule out smaller firms. As for zuku, I've heard enough complains with home users.

Am happy at Access Kenya .......Simple

My experience (outside Nairobi) AK has relatively better customer support. Downtimes may happen, but ours were handled well and always kept the sales rep on toes. Getting refunds for Downtimes. JTL on the other hand, hardly had Downtimes, but the customer service was horrible. Safaricom had good services, starting from point of sales, but eh, you'll dig deeper. If your desired ISP has infrastructure near by, the better. Regards. I would rate Access Kenya’s customer service as slightly better than Safaricom’s in terms of turn-around time and also because you can give a call and hold as the techie is addressing your issue (in most cases). Their costs are almost the same and if you are coming from one to the other you will always get a better price. I never thought we would get here but all ISPs are now stable, you will go for weeks without a downtime. Since we expect your Safaricom link is very stable, I would go with a cheap link like Zuku for backup. Certainly it’s worth giving it a try since installation and charges are really decent if their fiber is nearby. For 20mbps at 10K, you can test it for a month or 2. JTL would be a good option as well for the price point.
