Use Hirens boot cd, run mini xp, download and run lcp.exe and get ur password. Alternatively, you can reset your password using some tool whose name I don't recall at the moment. On 19 January 2010 16:44, maina martin <martinafrique@gmail.com> wrote:

He said "no cd-rom" :-) Must he invest in an external CD-ROM in order to recover? During installation of Windows, there is always a section for creating an Administrator account. What I have found out over time is that some installers leave the password for this account blank! So you could try ctrl+alt+delete and get a login Window. Type Administrator as username with a blank password and see if that saves the day. Else, get a CD-ROM and do as the others have suggested.Worst, you can always pull out the disk, connect it to a Desktop with CD-ROM, get either Hiren's BootCD or UBCD and use the tools therein to recover. Actually, I vaguely recall that Windows XP install CD has a procedure to reset the Administrator password on a disk installed with XP, or was it some Linux CD that had this? for folks who might find themselves in a similar situation and you dont have the hirens cd with you, you can boot with a windows XP cd and choose the option to repair installation. Then during installation, press "Shift + F10" you will be taken to a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and from there u can reset the admin password or any other password of users in the system. Another option is Ophcrack (http://bit.ly/8CTs36). On 1/19/10, Charles Mwangi <mwangicharles@gmail.com> wrote:

@Charles: At precisely which stage in the installation process does one press the key combination? On 1/19/10, Charles Mwangi <mwangicharles@gmail.com> wrote:

You can do it immediately after the process of copying files has finished and the computer reboots to start the GUI part of the installation, between that point and the stage of "installing devices"
