Bernard I installed it on my ideos. This was the trick -Download directly on your PC and unzip the file. Copy the apk file to your phone via usb cable. ( I recommend astro file manager to organize the location of your files) Install from there. It should work Cheers Kevin On Sat, Jul 2, 2011 at 11:55 AM, Bernard Mwagiru <bmwagiru@gmail.com> wrote:

Whatever device you use. Some of the hacks are for apps that have not been officially released. On 4 July 2011 09:15, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

@Dennis - very true and thats why I didn't support @Philip, but somehow its either the only Android phone users in this list have is the IDIOT, or its that the one's with the IDIOT's are more adventurer's and always looks for hacks and apps :-) #Observation ./Ok3ch On Mon, Jul 4, 2011 at 9:21 AM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

Philip, I got an Android (IDIOT) last week, went through all the threads about Android in this forum and then decided it's really not worth my time going through all these hacks. I put the damn thing back into it's box. I will use a phone as a phone and a computer for the other stuff. My E72 is still good enough for my 'phone' needs. My Lenovo T61 and HP6710B does my computing. My IDIOT is soon to get a new owner who perhaps will love it for other things other than hacks. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. As for the IDEOS it is on the low end of a smart phone, with a smaller screen to start with. Therefore the app store will list some apps as unavailable for the phone due to developers not indicating that they support the screen size. The apps though can still work on the phone and hence the hacks. Furthermore, some apps may not be available in "your country" - meaning - we made the apps for the rest of the world excluding Africa. I have also seen the same on Nokia's Ovi Store and Apples app store. So I have no idea why people are quick to blame the IDEOS for such stuff. One does not buy a Toyota Ist and keep complaining that Toyotas have small space, small size , small ground clearance while they are yet to buy the Toyota Land Cruiser. Android has HTCs, Motorolas , Samsungs - the experience is not limited to the IDEOS. If you buy the IDEOS , expect it to be an IDEOS, not a HTC Sensation <http://www.htc.com/europe/product/sensation/specification.html>.

Well Said Dennis. I have listened to a lot of people on this list coming down on the Ideos - for crying out loud not many people can spare 40 to 80 k for a high end iphone yet they still want to experience Android at a basic level. Of course everyone would wish to own a HTC desire or iphone or the Droid X but pocket wont allow or there are some who can afford but think its stupidity to spend 120,000 on an ipad when you don't own a plot of land. I think we need to kill this discussion - of course an ideos is not and will never be an iphone or HTC but tell you what -it delivers the Android experience to the masses ..thats what it was intended to do. Google+ android app - not available if your 'device's country' is Kenya. It's still under beta. -- Josiah Mugambi On Mon, Jul 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

@Okechukwu, I thought I could sneak in...he he. The analogy is appropriate for the situation, he he. I'll be expecting an invite, bila cash of course :-) -- Many Thanks. Regards, Clement Ongera.

I believe Android could have been a great OS, but the fragmentation and customization by Mobile Operators seem to have killed the unified user experience owners of iOS devices have come to experience and love. Google not being able to control the hardware side of things is not able to guarantee as seamless user interface, but they seem to have sacrificed this to get a many manufacturers as possible and claim Android to be a market leader. But it is still a great OS compared to the many flavors of mediocre OSes each manufacturer was trying to develop. I think the era of proprietary OSes of Mobile will soon be over with the death of Symbian and Meego. I see a future of iOS, webOS and Android. I would love to talk about RIM and BlackBerry, but I don't know where to place them right now. As for the IDEOS, no one would refute the fact that it introduces Android feature to a class of people who would otherwise never have it. And it is a great phone also for it's price. I have seen the wonder on the faces of new owners.

As Dennis put it the ideos is a very basic device compared to the likes of HTC but with few hacks like rooting it and loading up a different ROM can change things considerably. If you get the message app not available for your region, install market enabler and fake your carrier/operator to something like T-mobile and you can install apps available to that operator or region. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb
