I believe Android could have been a great OS, but the fragmentation and customization by Mobile Operators seem to have killed the unified user experience owners of iOS devices have come to experience and love. Google not being able to control the hardware side of things is not able to guarantee as seamless user interface, but they seem to have sacrificed this to get a many manufacturers as possible and claim Android to be a market leader. But it is still a great OS compared to the many flavors of mediocre OSes each manufacturer was trying to develop. I think the era of proprietary OSes of Mobile will soon be over with the death of Symbian and Meego. I see a future of iOS, webOS and Android. I would love to talk about RIM and BlackBerry, but I don't know where to place them right now.

As for the IDEOS, no one would refute the fact that it introduces Android feature to a class of people who would otherwise never have it. And it is a great phone also for it's price. I have seen the wonder on the faces of new owners.
