Hey skunks, I unlocked my Safcom modem and am now trying to use Zain on it Unfortunately it's not working nor is it prompting me for the unlock code I have tried creating a new profile using the info Eric posted here I was able to create the profile but When I try to activate the Internet using the profile, I get a message saying that the profile is not registered. HELP!

Hmm.. at your prompting, I've had to test Zain and Yu on my ex-Safcom modem and they have all worked. I'd suggest you delete the profile and recreate. Maybe it's corrupt (if I can say that).. not sure. Just try.

*cannot connect to an unregistered network *means that the modem has not 'seen' the network. you have to wait for the network bars to show before connecting. confirm Zain reception in your area by checking if your phone can 'see' the network. If you don't have network reception its because Safaricom is a dominant network operator denying Zain network ..., I means, If no network coverage on phone, the modem wont connect. Also note that the safaricom application takes a bit longer to 'see' other networks. @Dennis Kioko Thanks for the info, it makes sense now. I have a Zain line on my phone so it's not a problem of no network since my phone has network. I think it must be one of the other issues you mentioned. I'm going to try on Yu today and see if the same problem persists. Thanks a lot for your help :) @Jonas I never checked the GPRS setting.
