Musical chairs at Dealfish and Inmobi operations

Musical chairs at Dealfish and Inmobi operations - http://bit.ly/uDlHpo The emails and calls from South Africa based head hunters have done their rounds and it is now confirmed that Dealfish will be getting a new regional lead as Moses Kemibaro {who is the current Country Manager} heads of to a new role at Inmobi. As mentioned the Dealfish role will be regional looking at holistic e and m commerce. Dealfish has grown to be the leading classifieds service locally and the challenge as Moses exists remains how they will monetize, a challenge the new chap will have to contend with. Word is there's something in the offing come December from the Dealfish stable.I have my hunch what that is and will share it in a later post - {Who will own the classifieds space in EastAfrica} More- - http://bit.ly/uDlHpo

How comes they did not call me? Let me assume that they will be calling me.

no wonder I have been having many missed calls :) On Sat, Nov 19, 2011 at 11:10 AM, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:

@Njihia, this is not to shoot anyone's relative, but let us restrain ourselves from writing faslehoods unless backed up by facts. :-) When you write "Dealfish has grown to be the leading classifieds service locally ", can you please backup these numbers with the actual transactions versues the number of visitors? You and I both know the purchasing visitors from the visitors. The facts remain that for example, Nation had their online cars classified but when you look at the actual Nation Newspaper classifieds, it's a very different story. Nation's daily circulation runs in the millions, gets the market you want and you will sell you car within a short time. Online they have a very serious market segment. Fact is the web and interest is not a mass tool or platform for Africa, so why are we creating hype about something that needs to undergo a realistic transformation to suit local needs. That is why I hope we in the asp.netgroup/list are going to address the potential of the web and what can be done to change the transformations. So to put you to a task and prove your worth that Dealfish is a serious contender, let us have the figures. For the Motor vehicle sales industry, www.cheki.co.ke I believe is doing a better job. My view. :-) Rgds. **Sent from my Microsoft/Intel based computer. Affordable & reliable computing for Decades**

@aki, just noted an interesting paradox in your post... You admonish Mbugua for not quoting factual sources on his assertion on dealfish, then you go ahead and make your own assertions and do not provide factual sources... Mbugua: Dealfish has grown to be the leading classifieds service locally Aki: Nation's daily circulation runs in the millions Aki: gets the market you want Aki: and you will sell you car within a short time Aki: Online they have a very serious market segment. Aki: Fact is the web and interest is not a mass tool or platform for Africa Aki: For the Motor vehicle sales industry, www.cheki.co.ke I believe is doing a better job. And I couldnt resist this one, :-) *and what can be done to change the transformations.*
From my limited english, isn't change the same as transformation?

@Peter, thank you for the corrections. :-) I'll try and reply inline below. Am still awaiting @Njihia's claims to be substantiated. :-) On Sat, Nov 19, 2011 at 12:43 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

Mbugua: Dealfish has grown to be the leading classifieds service locally
Aki: Nation's daily circulation runs in the millions
Please give Nation marketing a call and you can have the numbers, if you are interested to advertise with them and want to know market penetration versus costs and targets.
Aki: gets the market you want
It does, no doubt about it. Traditional methods of awareness have not been exceeded by the web.
Aki: Online they have a very serious market segment.
Again, I request you to call Nation Online marketing to find out the rates. It is very interesting, each pixel of the Nation Media online site is worth millions.
Aki: Fact is the web and interest is not a mass tool or platform for Africa
WIll not go further into this as it remains something to be done in the near future.
Aki: For the Motor vehicle sales industry, www.cheki.co.ke I believe is doing a better job.
And I couldnt resist this one, :-)
For one, they are not claiming to be "leading anything" through marketing agents.
*and what can be done to change the transformations.*
From my limited english, isn't change the same as transformation?
Your English is correct, sorry my point got through very vaguely. :-) I meant transformation from the point of view as a base standard already established. There are many things to be learnt from our many mistakes especially on the African Web but change is not one of them. Where the SMS is the established traffic generator, it gives an insight to our shortfalls on the web.

Aha, so, if Mbugua recommended you to call Stefan Magdalinski<http://blog.dealfish.co.ke/show/59586378/>and get the figures which may/may not support his assertions, would that constitute substantiation? On Sat, Nov 19, 2011 at 1:45 PM, aki <aki275@gmail.com> wrote:

@Peter, if he can backup his claims, then it is even better. I remember Stefan as something to do with mocality. And this thread is very interesting, we should have MSK on this list. The Kenyan advert space is being taken over, that obviously is the bottomline in all these projects and there is no competitive fight back. I remember asking myself why Mocality and not YellowPages Kenya? Rgds. -- **Sent from my Microsoft/Intel based computer. Affordable & reliable computing for Decades**
