I always have this idea that if potential employers posted the salary range for a position, they would save themselves and the potential applicants a lot of time and effort. To which an employer would say; *we offer a salary commensurate with the experience of the applicant...* Which I think is crap because they have a HARD limit on the salo they can pay regardless of the experience of any applicant. Going out on a limb here, let me dare send a piece of advice to students still in school who are enlightened enough to be on this list: 1. Pick *ONE* major language (Java, Python, PHP, C# etc) and one minor language (HTML, XML etc) and master the living daylights out of them! 2. Then pick one database, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL or MySQL and learn it very well 3. Learn about interrupts, terminate stay resident (TSRs), window message loops and how to hook them, OS APIs , shared objects and dlls, sockets, threading, time sharing,- even if not deeply but it does help when coding and how you structure you code.
