Dear Tonee, ** *With just over two weeks to go until the event **I'm grateful you are attending Mobile Web East Africa *(www.mobileeastafrica.com), which has been gaining momentum since the New Year and is set to be a superb couple of days.
The conference is generating a huge amount of interest in the region, on the continent, and globally with *10 different nations already confirmed in the delegation*. Furthermore, space at the venue is limited to 120 attendees and the current rate of registrations indicates that the event will sell out.
As someone who is intrinsically linked with the future of ICT development in East Africa, I believe that not only will you realise a great many benefits from attending but the event itself will also benefit from having you present in the delegation, due to its “interactive roundtable format<http://www.mobileeastafrica.com/roundtable-format.php>”. Please find below just a few of the key points that I want to raise in relation to the event:
-
*All representatives from Start-Up Companies, Developmental Organisations, Academic Institutions and Developers are entitled to a SUBSIDISED TICKET* *(for more information reply to this mail or email **info@allamber.co.uk* <info@allamber.co.uk>*)*. -
*The topic is of the utmost importance* – a mobile phone can now be used as a personal computer, allowing access to the greatest information resource anyone has ever had available to them – the internet. This presents incredible potential and is the main focus of the conference. -
*The event is being officially hosted by the Kenya ICT Board*, an illustration of not only the importance of the topic, but also the level of support that it is receiving from all echelons of the Public and Private Sectors. -
The agenda <http://www.mobileeastafrica.com/live-agenda-news.php> *features five presentations from individuals who are leading the development of the mobile web in South Africa*; their contributions will present you with a look into how and where the region’s mobile ecosystem can develop. Further presentations have been confirmed from the leading individuals and companies in the East African region. -
The event is the second in a series of four conferences to be held around the continent – *the first Mobile Web Africa conference received incredible reviews and 97% of the 200+ strong delegation rated it as “Good”, “Very Good” or “Excellent”*.
As I mentioned above there are just two weeks to go before Mobile Web East Africa so I hope that this email will act as a catalyst for you deciding to attend the conference. To register for the event go to www.mobileeastafrica.com, reply to this email, send a message to info@allamber.co.uk, or call +44 1376 530 030.
I look forward to meeting you, and your colleagues, in person on 3rd February.
All the very best,

Most of the speakers on this list are Kenyan, with Kenyan initiatives. It's not easy to get an event organised, it's Murphy's playground. It's even harder to get sponsorship for the same event. Or speakers. Events are expensive, so even with sponsorship, you may fall short. I have had to pay for events from my pocket on multiple occasions. Hence a cover charge. Cover charges also prevent time wasters. In short, appreciate the opportunity to attend the event, if you do not feel it's adequate, try putting one together... Only after laying on a bed of roses, does one realize that the stalks a thorny.... On Tue, Jan 19, 2010 at 4:06 PM, David Mugo <raidarmax@gmail.com> wrote:

Cover charges also prevent time wasters. In short, appreciate the opportunity to attend the event, if you do not feel it's adequate, try putting one together... In my view, maturity speaks for itself and it calls to ignore sentiments aimed at sparking hate debates. I don't think its right for anyone to determine any other persons maturity and neither do I think this is the forum for such strong statements. This is not helping anyone and its better we just go silent on it. David. On Tue, Jan 19, 2010 at 6:45 PM, Rad! <conradakunga@gmail.com> wrote:

David You dont go silent when you see rapists being let free after being convicted of rapping a kid. You dont go silent when you see a wrong thing happening. You speak against it. Thats why Jesus and Prophet Mohammad died for us. They did refusing evil. We must be ready to pay the prize of refusing immaturity.
