When it comes to ransomware , first dont run any antivirus or removal tool .. if you do , even the hacker won't have a solution for you , just pay if it's something small , sometimes the hacker when contacted can be reasonable and reduce the ransom amount , after decryption , boot with a linux live CD and backup all important documents one by one ... not folder by folder , then format the drive and restore your files and stick to genuine copies..if not learn to experiment cracked softwares on a virtualized environments . i've only dealt with one incident, had to format the whole machine and lose all data ... same as getting your device stolen but without the pain of buying a new one On Mon, Jan 4, 2016 at 9:59 AM, David Njuki via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

I have been hit with that malware on our network a number of times and there is almost nothing you can do. Tried various ways of recovering data that have been posted on the net but to no avail. Luckily cloud backups were there from where I could restore as at up to a certain date. Good luck and if you do get a work around please share.
