windows server 2008 and sharepoint experts (Wagah Hayanga

Hi all,
I have a a dilemma guys, i have done my research on the net and still cant get the exact response that i need.
We all know that sharepoint runs on the .NET version 3.5.....so what would happen if i installed .NET 4.0 on the server??
1. would it replace and upgrade the .NET 3.5 already installed?...and if it did would it affect sharepoint negatively? I would guess not since am just doing an upgrade
2. would I be able to run different .NET versions on the same server, and just use different application pools in different web applications in IIS????
Any experts out there please help!!!!!

Thank you for your assistance I decided to just install the 4.0 .Net framework and so far everything has held steady and have made the additions that i needed to make successfully. I just changed the application pool for the new application. THANKS!!! On Tue, Nov 20, 2012 at 4:45 PM, Wagah Hayanga <fwagah@gmail.com> wrote:

How come MS has never made one pack for dot net , its very annoying when a piece of software asks for dot net version , there should only be one pack (2 cents) On Wed, Nov 21, 2012 at 8:39 AM, Wanjohi Ndegwa <andegs2000@gmail.com>wrote:

Define one pack for .net?? Software changes everyday and therefore upgrades and compatibility must be put into consideration On Wed, Nov 21, 2012 at 9:56 AM, geoffrey gitagia <ggitagia@gmail.com>wrote:
