Do banks really have terms and conditions or do they make most of their "policies" up? So I went to one of the local banks, wont mention its name but its National Bank of Kenya. So my ATM expired last month and I happily went today morning to collect my ATM. Apparently I had to apply for a new ATM......yeah....what??? Say I have 80K and Im stranded somewhere with my National expired Bank ATM card.......so, they want to say, "We care enough not to give you atm card when you need it, but we want you to give us your money". Banks do come up with these "terms" and go out there sponsoring parks and seats (Co-op Bank Kenya), but they do not really make a person proud of being in that Bank. So Ive come to the conclusion, Go I&M and NIC FULLSTOP

This is starting to get into my nerves. Safaricom smses are not getting to their intended destination on time if ever at all. Yesterday a client calls to say that he has sent money via M-Pesa and that he hasn't received a confirmation code and I have not either. Bulk smses are not getting delivered either and the SMSC is delivering success reports. Aghrrr! What is happening at Safcom? Then I hear Bob Collymore (now Micro Joseph) saying that they are adding services to the M-Pesa thanks to the new system?

And the topic is reincarnated once more...what ticks me off is the deafening silence from the many safaricom guys reading this list.

I don't think banks automatically issued new ATMs when old ones expiry. You need to know your ATM card is expiring and apply for a new one. It is not only National. And you can always get your money over the counter, the way people used to before ATMs.

Well, I'd prefer my ATM to be ready before the other one expires On Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

I think the prudent way they can address this is to contact you like 30 days or so to the date of expiry via your registered email, asking you to confirm renewal and such, and then notify you via email when the card is ready. This should be feasible since getting the e-statements for the KCB debit card is just a matter of sending email from your email address which you registered with them, and voila! Within 24 hours you can monitor your card activity online without having to step into the bank to collect the username/password info. These guys have to move with the times!

In most cases, the ATM cards are always ready when the other card is about to expire. In the last 30 days of the last card, The ATM machine will alert you on the impending expire when you make a withdraw/enquiry. On 16 March 2011 11:16, Haggai Nyang <haggai.nyang@gmail.com> wrote:

Picked mine from NBK and Coop when they expired. I was pleasantly surprised that it was without application. Regards, Alex On Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 11:26 AM, Paul Kevin <paultitude@gmail.com> wrote:

Pay Equity bank a visit. Its a Kenyan Bank and understand all your requirements. On Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 10:18 AM, Paul Kevin <paultitude@gmail.com> wrote:

All well and good as I am aware of the above...but there should be no need to reapply when a card expires. Too tedious and time-wasting in this day and age. However I still believe the email notification should exist as we tend to check our mails more than visit the ATM :)

NBK will always tell you "Your ATM card is due to expire at the end of this month", and if you ignore that call, then the card will be retained after the expiration of the deadline. Methinks, you ignore the ATM message, then cook yourself!!! On 16/03/2011, Felakut Theo <egmasp@yahoo.com> wrote:
