Anyone on this list using both MacBook and iPad concurrently with Mail App?

I am having a hard time having these two "giants" to co-exist! Not me, really, but a colleague: Scenario: 1. MacBook Pro and iPad both have 3 e-mail (POP3) accounts configured on them. Two accounts are hosted by Google. The other by AFOL 2. On each giant, the Mail App has the account configured to "leave mail on the server for N days" 3. On the Go-ogle server, the account settings have been modified to "NOT" move the e-mail into Archive (which is usually the default). So mail remains in the Inbox 4. Now, if you single out one of the mail accounts hosted by the Go-ogle guys and send e-mail to it, the drama begins. (a) if MacBook POPs first, the iPad will not get the same e-mail, or (b) if iPad POPs first, the other giant will not get the same e-mail. 5. I am 100% sure I have configured the two giants right, plus the Go-ogle settings, and this is how I expect "leave messages on the server to work". For Google hosted mail, how about you use IMAP instead of POP3. 2010/10/21 Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>

Well, am using the same on my iPhone and iPad and the iPhone always gets the mail first, but the iPad also does receive the mail, and I can archive in any it it archives in both. Don't have a problem at all. ./Ok3ch On Thu, Oct 21, 2010 at 12:30 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

@Ok3ch, The "archiving" I was talking about is the one inside Go-ogle. Once a mail is fetched via POP3, google marks it for archiving and removes it from the Inbox. Did you make any special setting inside gmail.com before you started using iPhone and iPad?? Are you using pop3 or imap accounts on both? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Am using IMAP - The Microsoft Exchange connector for gmail, and no changes at all on the gmail side than I had done way back before. I actually have my laptop which eventually picks the mail using POP3 and at that point, the mail is archived. ./Ok3ch On Thu, Oct 21, 2010 at 1:11 PM, Jonas | Lamu Software <jonas@lamusoftware.com> wrote:

I set up an almost identical configuration a few weeks back. Had no problem but I used the automatic setup of email on the iPad using iTunes: http://answers.oreilly.com/topic/1465-sync-your-ipad-mail-settings-with-itun... Try deleting all email accounts on the iPad and recreate them using the iTunes built in sync. Hope this helps On 10/21/2010 12:03 PM, Odhiambo Washington wrote:
