I have a choice of a Windows or Apple Server. What would you suggest I go for and why for a small organization of about 20 people +. Regards, Andrew

This Windows vs Apple Server vs any other is overrated, look here the thing is, bottom line, they all work. There are large and small companies using either. What is it your 20 people company is doing that these millions of companies worldwide cannot do, that you need special treatment? The problem when you ask such a question on this list you will be told use Apple by the Apple fans and use Windows by the windows fans and following that kind of baseless advice will hurt your organization if you make the wrong decision. The determining factor here is what apps and services do you want to run on the server and how much are you willing to spend. You might have a case for windows and you end up buying too little memory or not enough disk space... get the picture? I can assure all these servers are damn good in of themselves but... I suggest you say what needs to get done, your organizations budget, short and long term goals and with those factors you will get trusted and informed advice based on what information you have shared. Well said. It's like asking which car should I buy and expecting an objective answer. Bottom line is they all essentially do the same thing. The decision will be up to the factors that Steve has mentioned On Mon, Aug 15, 2011 at 10:47 AM, Steve Obbayi <steve@sobbayi.com> wrote:

Hehehe.... Ati you there should be apple server coz there are apples in the network? or is it vice versa? Consider the following 1. *What services do you want to serve?????* 2. Do you have staff who know how to administer either, how pro are they? 3. How much are you willing to spend? 4. If you want a paid for server solution, ever heard of SuSE, RedHat, Solaris? 5. Did you know that there are other professional free and opensource Server solutions (Linux,BSD,Open Indiana) that will not cost you a dime?
