Re: [Skunkworks] Windows 8 and dual boot

You know why M$ came up with the idea of UEFI boot, right?
Well, http://goo.gl/RPrbU
And from my understanding of the foregoing, I believe it's still not possible officially - where officially means at Microsoft's whims!
I think you would need to reinstall with secure boot on. Not sure if it can boot if you use parted to move around an installed windows 8. After that turn off secure boot and install Linux. Window 8 still boots but you can't apply update. I have tested turning off secure boot and can verify it came up. Long term don't know. This was just a one day exercise as I can't stand the interface and back on Linux desktop. One thing though most companies are downgrading to windows 7 so abilities to turn off secure boot will be there another 3 to 5 years. Any hardware vendor who remove the ability to turn off secure boot would risk loosing corporate market Muriithi

Skunks, Now that Windoz 8 is coming in laptops, has anyone had any experience trying to install a second OS to replace it in a machine or to dual

say with Linux? I am reffering to the secure boot that is supposed to come with the OS.
