I think you would need to reinstall with secure boot on. Not sure if it can boot if you use parted to move around an installed windows 8.
After that turn off secure boot and install Linux. Window 8 still boots but you can't apply update. I have tested turning off secure boot and can verify it came up.
Long term don't know. This was just a one day exercise as I can't stand the interface and back on Linux desktop.
One thing though most companies are downgrading to windows 7 so abilities to turn off secure boot will be there another 3 to 5 years. Any hardware vendor who remove the ability to turn off secure boot would risk loosing corporate market
