SONY EX650 vs Samsung UA-46ES5600

Hellos, Today for all the right reasons i decided to window shop. In a way to keep myself to-date as far as TV models and features are concerned. Needless to say i got more confused in those shops that i would over the internet. SONY <http://www.sony-mea.com/product/kdl-46ex650/specs>, LED, ex650 - 119,000 Samsung <http://samsutech.net/LEDS_TVs/About_LED_all.html>,LED, UA-46ES5600 - 114, 000 Not considering the cost - which one would you go for picture quality wise. There is too much info out there that seem 50/50 with the 2 models. Also i really dont care about "internet tv bit". Got a better system that does better. I prefer a TV ikuwe TV. Oh please DONT mention also the 3D - not ready for that. What happened to LG? Thought life-is-good?? Wilson./

I guess marketing gimmicks really work. Before you buy anything new, you go window shopping. Say for the TV.... the standard TV has been their ever since... yes the big one the 21" 14" like the big CRT monitors.in some cybers.... It works well.... woe unto you when you go shopping. I think this thing for shopping for the future gets into our heads. You look for a TV...LED over LCD.... Full HD over HD ready... Then you become confused by the crystal clear images that they display on those TV's then you remember the "mchele" that displays back on your TV... you think its bye bye to the mchele's / noisy pictures. Thing is that the guys developing those products are working to develop greater products. So as soon as you buy your product you feel shortchanged. You open your eyes feeling that given another opportunity you would purchase a different product from what you have already purchased. Thing is that i do not understand why over the last 2/3 years they have been selling the LED/LCD TV's then only for now you realize that this new good looking TV are still analogue. And your thoughts were...... This new LCD/LED FULL HD TV must be digital. R T21 On Thu, Dec 13, 2012 at 4:18 PM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for comments, BUT am yet not convinced for SAMSUNG! - dont know why...
Further, we have a long way to go to get our station txing on HD content, but maybe with the digital broadcasting that may be fast-tracked. Surprisingly, some stations have very clear and sharp images, one might think he is watching a HD content. GBS being one of them! Am using GOSPELL FTA stb with HDMI -[not marketing here], maybe the reason? I guess RCA wont give same quality. Nway, am not looking for a TV to watch "tahidi high and machachari" but series/movies/Gospel preachings[HD]and online content with WD live hub. One thing i hate though is the "image draaaag" while watching fast moving images like sports etc - just makes u feel dizzy. That's why refresh-rate or what they call ?motion-flow? is a big+ that would determine what to go for - [NOT now but later when cash flows in! - just planning for the next 5years to come] And PIP - picture in picture which sony comes with is a cute feature. *And PIP - picture in picture which sony comes with is a cute feature.*
There's also PAP -Picture and Picture. I don't know whether that concept ultimately caught on locally (if it ever did). My PIP feature appears to be selective on what input channels I can have displayed side by side. It appears to favour the HDMI channel, which I luckily use most of the times. That aside, I'd vouch for Samsung: I love the ecosystem they have created with the 'allshare' concept

Hi Yes I have tried the above formats, I normally download full HD 1080p movies and watch them directly from my Trascend HDD, I also do some You tube... but its browser is awkward if you are used to PC you will wonder why they put a browser to the TV especially typing from a displayed alphabet using a remote I can also do screen mirroring ... with any phone with screen mirror feature regards On Wed, Nov 6, 2013 at 11:48 AM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

1. Remote button PIP [one touch and not navigating through menu to get to it], switching sound is a nightmare - another process! 2. Idle TV system standby [when you don't touch remote for say 1, 2, 3hrs the TV shuts down on its own] - important when you leave the TV unattended.

So you need to keep fiddling with the remote every 60 minutes?? :-) On 6 November 2013 16:26, Philip Musyoki <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

I miss 2 items especially......
1. Remote button PIP [one touch and not navigating through menu to get to it], switching sound is a nightmare - another process! 2. Idle TV system standby [when you don't touch remote for say 1, 2, 3hrs the TV shuts down on its own] - important when you leave the TV unattended.

I am gonna put up my LG on sale in OLX and get a Sony Smart TV now, if this is what to expect... Does anyone know if W674A supports this feature? It's good to save power when 'they' switch on the TV and are busy doing other things.... On 6 November 2013 16:47, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:

I do not know much about Samsung and I was all crazy about them but after alot of research and references from a few, I got a Sony 2013 model. Sony has introduced some picture engines (X-Reality and X-Reality PRO) and done some serious catch up in 2013 and I must say they're on the frontline, in my opinion. I have tried the W70<http://www.sony-asia.com/product/kdl-46w700a> (W700), it's an improvement of the W67 mentioned above and this 'eco friendly' feature really works (the TV can lull you to sleep). It is however not 3D. Both TV's have the DLNA/UPNP features meaning I can stream anything from my PC's media server or even the Android Media Servers (e.g Bubble UPNP & HomeDia). The W70 has in-built Wi-fi, an inbuilt DVBT-2 tuner and the sound is great. Please note, one problem with these Sony TV's is finding a compatible wireless keyboard. Samsung has great support for these but Sony lags far behind. Apart from that, I can't complain about anything else. Find the codecs supported attached. PS: Just in case you are considering a home theatre, I'd highly recommend you take a thorough look at AV receivers<http://reviews.cnet.com/best-av-receivers/>before you settle for anything else. One Thing I love about my sony is the DNLA feature, and the Eco mode, Streaming awesome as well now that Zuku behaves really nice :-) ... I can also say as everyone said above Sony was the best choice I made ... On 6 November 2013 17:36, Mike Muraguri <mickie.mic@gmail.com> wrote:

I am gonna put up my LG on sale in OLX and get a Sony Smart TV now, if this is what to expect... Does anyone know if W674A supports this feature? It's good to save power when 'they' switch on the TV and are busy doing other things....

So you need to keep fiddling with the remote every 60 minutes?? :-)
@wash, 60mins/1hr was only for illustration. Hope you get the point. Either way the tool comes in handy and havent seen an equal in samsung.

Better still we have TVs that detect ambient movement and can know when no one is watching and go on standby mode. No need to press pesky keys on the remote.

I know it's not part of the options but I think you should check out the LG TVs for the same price point. I have a 2012 LG model that still kicks ass compared to a 2013 Sony at a family friends house. It has it all, from cabled to wifi, etc. I cant use the wi-di though coz I don't have any wi-di enabled gadgets. The downside of LG is their apps. It's not as rich as Sony or Samsung, which in my opinion has the best and most app collection. But since you are not considering internet TVs, this wont be a issue with you. And if you are spending that much, consider 3D. It is awesome On Thu, Nov 7, 2013 at 10:15 AM, Thuo Wilson <lixton@gmail.com> wrote:
