In a nutshell, broadcast signals pass through an AV MPEG-2/4 encoder, to a switch, a remux, scrambler, then digital dvision unit feeds a digital modulator, to a splitter, then to a transmitting station. The transmitting station feeds the encoded signal to the base transmiters to the digital set top box which decodes back to ananlogue for analogue TV reception. I suspect the Soloist unit sits between the digital satellite receiver and the MUX. This unit supports HD encoding which could mean that KBC/Signet will have the capability to broadcast HD transmissions. KBC are using that equipment for digital broadcasting. The feed you saw was a digital signal. I suspect there was a problem during decoding which sometimes brings that screen.They can be excused since digital broadcasting is on test phase.
