Hackers today are moving more into human hacking since you cannot cure the ignorance of users. Its much easier and the user installs for you the bot in there device. There has been cases where bots are sold to users(so that they can look legit). I prefer it when malware was free. On Wed, Feb 25, 2015 at 10:03 AM, <skunkworks-request@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Security is multifaceted, it depends on many fronts among them:
1. How fast are vulnerabilities patched? 2. How easy is it for the user to patch the vulnerability? 3. How easy is it for the user to know about of the vulnerability? 4. among others
Vendor 1 can only have 3 critical vulnerabilities in a 12-month period and take 1 year to patch them. Vendor 2 system can have 10 vulnerabilities in 12 month period and have users patch each of of them in 10 days. So which vendor is more secure? This generated some debate of Microsoft vs Google 90-Day Disclosure < http://www.infoworld.com/article/2867402/operating-systems/google-zero-day-d...

i think, it depends on your level of knowledge of OS systems. If you don't know much then go for windows, they have you covered in terms of security and all. I think this is why hackers are interested in windows, this is the only platform you can easily find targets. If you are good with OS then go for linux, you definitely need to peek under it to find out whats happening now and then and have to keep up with releases and apps that need to be tweaked further to work. Generally its for hands on people.
However, you can be an OS guru and still use windows. Now you have redundancy, you and Microsoft.

@Jangita don't bring out the Okechukwu [?] fan boys.
But the best definitely is not linux from a desktop user point of view.
Sort of brings into perspective how unpopular windows has become or is it just growth of other operating systems.

It's simple the more popular the OS the more interest hackers have in it , plus think of it this way too , no one has been developing tools to protect linux or OSX (antivirus , system scan tools) , making it an open playing field .

Considering Safari browser is not listed on the top vulnerable applications, I'd say the most secure platform is Safari on Windows Vista :)
