Laban, Better to just reach out to Canonical/Debian and have those mirrors stricken from the lists. They've been up and down for years. The liquidtelecom mirrors are far superior. -Adam -- Kili - Cloud for Africa: kili.io Musings: twitter.com/varud <https://twitter.com/varud> More Musings: varud.com About Adam: www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson On Fri, Jan 23, 2015 at 4:55 AM, Laban Mwangi via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:
Dear KENET,
Your mirrors ubuntu.mirror.ac.ke & debian.mirror.ac.ke have been unavailable for more than a week. Given that you are listed as Kenya's official mirror for debian and ubuntu, it's unacceptable to be down for this amount of time. It sucks that I have to reconfigure a bunch of boxes with a new upstream. PLEASE FIX THIS!
If you can't keep the servers up, do not register as an official mirror!
From the ubuntu guidelines [1] -- Be committed to being a mirror. Obviously, each offer to be an Ubuntu mirror is great and users appreciate it. However, it's in nobody's interest to go and change the sources.list every time a mirror disappears. So if you're not planning on creating a mirror for the long run, don't register it. People might get disappointed in you and/or Ubuntu. ---
