The big boys in self publishing are probably createspace <https://www.createspace.com/> and ingramspark <https://www.ingramspark.com/Portal>. Createspace is the easiest way to get on amazon kindle and physical books. Ingramspark has a wider online network(kindle, kobo, ibooks e.t.c) and bigger international footprint so you should look into using a combination of both to reach the widest market. I haven't done this but I love reading books and looked into it just this year. Turns out publishing is the easy part, writing and marketing is way harder. Selling Soft copy is pretty easy.
Just write your book as a .doc and then upload through https://kdp.amazon.com/ - you will need to add a cover image and maybe a table of contents but other than that Amazon's software converts your .doc nicely into the Kindle format.
I've done this for a few horrible little books (I should stick to writing code) so let me know if you need specific help.
Not sure about hard copy.
