WooH...! Damn! Techies, I really like the way we point out the faults too! I agree, we are good at this!!! I also agree with Jack ICTB and e-Gov et al have some very brilliant initiatives going and am sure we'll see ICT in Government making some good changes and contributing to reforms. It'd be nice if there is a way we can join in and make it real for e-Government initiatives. Certainly,I agree with Kiti Chigiri that e-Goverment websites and other web applications need to develop or adopt a strong & standardized code-base / framework that will provide options for say, single-sign on or content syndication, on all e-Gov initiatives. A governance framework of some sorts. This would lighten-up e-Gov so much! Ooh.....and I second or third the motion to register Skunkworks KE as a business entity! The govt's ICT guys should not be blamed if the ISP is the problem. On restering skunkworks as a business unit, a plan should already be in place... like yersterday morning! The loopholes in all these display alot of laxity in implementing industry standards in these projects. I like the way we point out the faults, damn ain't we good at this!!! This brings me to thinking, suppose we had a clearly cut out outfit, not a group of techies virtually existing in a mail list but a legal body reconised by law. We would be in a better position to put the people involved on a spotlight and also the govt on different ICT policy. No matter how long we will want to brush this under the carpet, it will always show up, and i will quote another member on the list who said, even if we won't do this, some techie will do it, they might not be the best to do it, but they will. So isn't time we quit loads of talk and wishful thinking and get down to some action!!! MHO
