@Solomon My(layman) reasoning : Tv stations produce the content and give it to the distributors(DSTV,Zuku,PANG,Signet,etc). The distributors then 'convert' it into any format that they need to distribute it on the digital platform(or any other). In this case there was no 'digital' or 'analogue' content, so to speak, just content being transmitted on digital or analogue platforms. My colleagues' reasoning : The TV stations had their content in 'digital' and 'analogue' formats, and they started generating the 'digital' content around 2007 and that is why they were able to broadcast on the DSTV platform. My colleagues also argue KTN specifically had both analogue and digital content which they were giving to DSTV,Zuku,StarTimes,etc for onward transmission. In addition, when the Government switched off their analogue transmission, the three TV stations stopped giving their 'digital' content to the distributors for onward digital distribution. I had an interesting conversation with some guys about this and couldn't come to an agreement.
Please help me understand a few things.
Is it safe to conclude it doesn't matter what format the content is generated by K24, KTN,KBC, NTV,etc, what matters is whether the signal distribution is digital or analogue(how it reaches the viewer)? Is there such a thing as 'content in digital format' and 'content in analogue format'?
If the answer is 'yes' to the above question, does KTN,NTV and Citizen have 'digital content', how long have they had it in this format and how were they able to broadcast on DSTV and Zuku prior to migration to the 'digital format'?
